I see lots of shots for mods such as "SI Interior" but I dont seem to be able to get to the ares in the interior to fully appreciate the work that has been done. I remember a mod for SH3 that allowed free-looking. How do I enable this in SH4?

In the stock game, press Shift-F2. This will allow you to go anywhere in the control room and conning tower. ROW cameras add extra freedom to the stations, like radar and sonar, so you aren't limited to one view.

I wish you could go hang out with the diesels! Or play cribbage (not that I know how) in the officer's ward room! Or bake a victory cake in the galley!

How about Sinking some Ships ? I may be wrong but I think that's the idea of SH4 :D

Indeed...although just as importantly, a sim like SH4 thrives on immersion, and the more you can immerse yourself in the "life of a submariner," the more successful the simulation. For both SH3 and 4 I've longed for a little more "interaction"...and I must say I loved the role-play elements of the SH3 Commander mod. It really added to the feel of the game did it not? Also, if you can look around the control room, why not be able to look around the rest of the sub? Wouldn't it be cool to take a trip through every compartment of your sub after a DC attack to do your own damage assessment? To see your diesel engines on fire or flooding for instance? Anyway...just my .02

It would be great but like long asked for separate engine controls it hasn't been done and isn't likely because of game constraints.
