At 00:55am here in uk, I was about to logoff and go to bed

Damn quake just hit lol

Rare in uk as such but boy this was a real shaker lol

Any others in midlands are or elsewhere feel it ??

Whole damn areas lit up with houselights going on lol

People outside me

I say woohoo in title as-in it's mild quakes we get in the uk and nothing like other regions suffer from

Gonna wait up a few and see if news24 reports it

Only ever felt 2 before this but this was the strongest

I wondered what that was!

I felt 2 short shakes, followed by another two short shakes a few seconds after.
I put it down to my senses playing tricks on me, but it fits the time.

It's not, but there are enough big forces in the rocks round here to make a small quake
every now and again. We are still rising from the last ice age, we have old fault lines
with stored up energy, we have open cast mines that can cause rock shifts as well as all
the more subtle causes of rock tension.

Felt it here and I am about 50 miles from Lincolnshire. We all survived in our household

I was in a very minor earthquake a few years ago. Various fixtures in my home shook, and that was that. I did wonder what it was at the time, and if I'd thought things through, I probably have concluded it was indeed an earthquake. No biggie.

I thought to myself "Theres only three things that can do that, a lorry...but its too long in duration, an earthquake, or hydrogen bombs, I'm thinking its and earthquake because I haven't been turned to radioactive dust yet" lol. Measured 5.2 on the scale, and the epicenter was about 15 miles outside Lincoln.

So a 5.2 tremor hits the UK and everyone has to crap there pants and go screaming in to the night, meanwhile the press do a What If situation where the UK has been reduced to rubble and millions dead whoop-D-Do.

Bah, Humbug, tosh, rubbish, so what? We have on average 200 a year which don't bat anyones eye so why this one? The one in Wales was 5.3 20 years ago so why all the hype? Slow news day is your answer. :roll:

5.3 on the scale - here in Leicestershire it made my bookshelves sway and creak and it wobbled me on the sofa whilst I was playing my guitar. It also freaked my cats out... a lot!
last time I experienced an earthquake was not long after I met my other half - and I kid you not, we were in bed at the time, any banging of the walls was nothing to do with us :oops:
hehe it's one of those things where you ask yourself 'did that really just happen?' the UK being the placid place it is to live and all of that.

I have been watching the news and it was crass, all sides came across saying this was the great earthquake that rocked England and we were lucky to survive it. What BS come on get a grip of reality for fecks sake, yet another slow news day.

Steed i agree on the slow news day, Point was earthquakes that we can actually feel over here in the uk are pretty rare

I knew it wasn't the end of the world quake but still a rare event none the less

At 1st this morning at around 50mins after the event they said it was 4.7 and centre was around hull

Now it's panned out and settled down and settled into another persian gulf news day

Paper media is dying out slowly, Hence the doom n gloom stance by them in the paper, Afterall to survive they have to sell papers and they come up with misleading guff so lesser-brain-celled people will buy it and believe all in the paper to be 100% true/exact

Then again i don't want paper media to die out fast as my vm bb is laggy since so many are signing up for it and maybe have swapped paper for streaming lol
