Had a weird experience in East China Sea last night. Sunk three merchants in a convoy and was bugging out back to Pearl and was tracking DD and a Gunboat on the hydrophones when I heard some weird noises. At first I thought is depth charges in the distance, but it wasnt quite the same as a DC, more of a poping and grinding noise. When I checked the bearing of the noises it was on the same as the ships I had sunk. But it had been at least 15 minutes since I had seen the vessles go down. The noises continued for sometime untill they eventually faded out as distance between myself and the area grew. BTW running stock game no mods. Anyone else hear the death throws of ships?

What was the water depth? I think it was the ship hitting and grinding on the sea floor.

I was below the thermocline, which was pretty deep, around 250ft. Im guessing it was the bulkheads poping, boiler going up, cargo shifting, etc. It had been at least 15 min since I saw the ships go under, so I thought they would have dissapeared by then. But then again it was pretty deep where I sunk them, so I guess it could take them a while to get to Davy Jones Locker.

I followed a ship going down once before using the free camera and either lost him in the dark or he just dissappeard after a few minutes of free fall. Maybe they have it set up so that the model disappears after a few minutes but the sound continues depending on the distance of freefall.

Or maybe too much Japanese food gives the Kraken gas or something:rotfl:

The ships do disappear after they sink to a certain depth. I would guess around 500 feet.
