Hi all, I'm haveing a problem with my attack scope in rough weather that makes the game unplayable. Whenever there is water running off the lens of scope i lose controll of the mouse and keyboard commands. The mouse barely moves, the clicks have no effect and the keyboard commands wont work. As soon as the lens is clear eveything goes back to normal till the next wave then it starts all over again. I'm at the point now where I only attack unescorted ships on the surface or convoys only in clear weather.
Thanks for any suggestions.

Well, that was the reality back then. And still is no doubt. Your alternative is reducing your depth a bit (or just raising your scope if it can further) so it sticks a bit higher up through the waves. But that may make detection by the enemy easier, so be carefull with how much. Or how long you keep it up.

I think there is a mod that solves this problem. I get a lot of water running off the scope but still have control over it.

I have the same problem and asked this question in another topic
I run SH3 with the GWX2 on a Notebook with enough Memory and CPU but my Graphikchip is a ATI RadeonMobiity X300 which is slightly faster than our 9600 (if my memory does not fool me)
For me it means just a very high amount of slowing down.. loosing control of the mouse and keyboard as you describe it.

Seems to me it is the graphik chip... as I cannot change my Graphik card (notebook) this is not an option for me... but maybe for you!

Ther also should/could/woulb be a way to change the camera.dat by hex/editor.... whatever... but I am not experienced in any of this at all!

Maybe someone with knowledge would be so kisnd and generate a Camera.dat with a fixed "I don't blurr any more" periscope... ok ok... which would be cheating... but I use OLC's GUI/U-Jagd tools... and not being able to get the solution and/or get the solution in the TDC is frustrating.
Though I have almost accepted that the way it is is the way it is.. I won't give up the search. :shifty:

So please... someone... who can do it... fix the blurrig effects "out" of the periscope to make the game playable for some of us... thanks!

It may be cheating but its better than only attacking in nice weather!! North Atlantic storms seem to last forever.:lost: :lost:

I have the Radion Express 200 on a Notebook,
I don't have to much of a problem with the blur.
:hmm:
I suppose I could adjust a dat.
I'll look into it a bit further.

ok... changed my mind... seems that Memory would help also... but replacing the two 512mb in my Notbook with two 1024MB would be just too expensive... will save up for a good desktop system ;)

acetoolguy & Grayson02sept1980: I re-read your post just now. Initially I thought this was just a way of disabling periscope funtion by the game-developers. But if you say the mouse slows down too , and keyboard becomes unresponsive than it's obviously not that. Must be a hard/software thing.

I don't think your videocard or RAM memory is not enough. I have a Radeon 9550 128MB AGP on a P4 2.66GHz with 768MB DDR2 Ram. Mine is not a notebook/laptop but a fat ATX case. I don't have such periscope washout problems. Maybe you have the issue because you have heavy antialiasing or anisotropic filtering set. I have those set to minimal or set as the application desires. I may have some fps drops, but not to the point you experience.

Ok.
PM me COMPLETE system specs.
Not just hardware stuff, but what is running when you play.
(IM's, Weatherbug, junk like that)
I'll select a few people suffering this problem and send a link to
a modded Cameras.dat for testing.
If selected,
you do not post it at this time, and give me feedback ASAP.
It will be a minor adjustment for testing.
Then I'll do a full fix.
If the conditions bother you?
Don't PM me.

cool! Thanks!

As soon as I have update from 1GB to 2GB memory I'll also write how it worked... still interested in that .dat ;)

just as a side note:
I tried to get some better results with changing to low textures... no use... the game seems to run a tad... just a little but imho almost not noticable faster..

But no use for the periscope problem
