Observation Periscope doesn't work

I've reinstalled and applied path 1.4 but again, as in previous versions, I can't see anything out of my observation periscope. Doesn't matter if I'm surfaced or at periscope depth, and the observation periscope definitely rises to full extension. It's incredibly dark, like there's a hood over it.

Any suggestions? I have searched the forum but found nothing similar.

I know this will sound weird, but how are you trying to raise the periscope? Are you using the on-screen switch, or the keyboard buttons? The reason I ask is that the two scopes are raised by two different sets of keys; one is page-up and page-down, the other is insert and delete. There have been problems in the past with players looking through one periscope and hitting the keys for the other one.

I had no idea the Ctrl+Insert and Ctrl+PageUp keys were available! You learn something new every day
