Post here links to videos of songs from music groups from your country you like. Internationally well known groups (Dire Straits, Rolling Stones, etc.) don't count!

What I want is to see is those groups that have mostly local fans and are mainly unknown outside your country :) but play songs you like a lot.

Here are some from Spain:

Los Secretos (Country/Blue style): http://es.youtube.com/watch?v=r4fXgblHCZc

Heroes del silencio (Rock)(Well known in latinamerica and russia, not much in anglosaxon countries): http://es.youtube.com/watch?v=AgR-s5haMEQ

Luz Casal (Beautiful ballade!!): http://es.youtube.com/watch?v=hlwIRgHLxl8

Nacha Pop (Pop Rock): (This was an hymn here in the 80s!): http://es.youtube.com/watch?v=qEIjZHPplG4

Loquillo (Rock - but hear the choirs later in the song!!): http://es.youtube.com/watch?v=R9IWjNuHr5M&feature=related

Come on, I want to see those gems that do not trespass frontiers but are too good to miss

That's like something from a Eurovision song contest.

Hot chicks in that first one though.

Here's a good Aussie classic:

Hot chicks in that first one though

That is right,I think that people look at those girls more, than listen to what they are singing. :)

They actually repeat one and the same in their song:"Call me tonight so that I could hear some good news from you".

I don't like this song but unfortunatly it is one of the popular songs in America right now.
It is probably the most stupid song ever written

With Norton Buffalo playing "Ain't No Bread In The Breadbox"

A real Russian musician and band, none of the fake plastic pop. Unfortunately one of the very few artists that still speaks with the voice of the people, the poor, the soldiers and the sailors.

Yuri Shevchuk and DDT - Born in the USSR
http://youtube.com/watch?v=JIdPdBF85DU

At first it was evening,
Then came I
Yesterday - words and wind
Today - into earth

At the old cemetery
Where enemies ressurected
I understood something
When I got up off the wrong foot

Hey-ey, hey-ey-ey
Born in the USSR
Hey-ey, hey-ey-ey
Born in the USSR

Not a second without a fight
We believe in life and death
Into the eyes of your dog
We're not afraid to look

Today it's victory,
Understand and forgive
There's nothing left for us
But we've plenty to give

Hey-ey, hey-ey-ey
Born in the USSR
Hey-ey, hey-ey-ey
Born in the USSR

You - the further, the steeper
You're almost the sunset
Hello ancient Russia -
I'm your nervous brother

What will hope return us?
What will beauty save?
Yesterday, you owned a whole empire
And today you're an orphan...

Hey-ey, hey-ey-ey
Born in the USSR
Hey-ey, hey-ey-ey
Born in the USSR

Of interest to Subsim - video and song dedicated to the Kursk tragedy:
http://youtube.com/watch?v=luOBPfrvYvY

Who will say about death
A few honest words?
Sadly there's no black boxes
For the fallen sailors

The pencil lead is breaking up
It is cold and dark -
Kapitan Kolesnikov
Is writing us a letter
[repeat]

Just a few of us are left
On the hungry bottom
Two compartments blown up
And three more are in flames

I know there's no saving us
But if you can, just wait
You will find my letter here
Firmly on your chest
[repeat]

Kursk, as a torn grave
Shuddered, became still
As a farewell tore apart
The moorings of old veins

On the surface - overcast
Seagulls, passing ships
On the ground a dead sub sleeps
And yet so far away from land
[repeat]

Later of what happened here
For so long they'll lie
Will the commission ever tell
How hard it is to die?

Some of us are still their peers
Some heroes, some - just ****
Kapitan Kolesnikov
Is writing us a letter
[repeat]
A Conversation at War
http://youtube.com/watch?v=L8eUE8SR8s4

We were brought together in hell by war -
It doesn't cancel out friends
I was a hero, tore through it all -
He was much quieter

The wet sky burned with the sunset
Death ate something near us
My soul waited for an alarm
His sang something quietly
My soul waited for an alarm
His sang something quietly

We were different in everything
Quotations, ice and flame
I sizzled like a bee under fire
While he became dark as a rock
He kept quiet to himself, and just sometimes
When I ran up against him
He threw me: "Nonsense, man
You know that God respects us"
He answered: "It's all nonsense,
God respects us
Respects us..."

We sit here in the hills, and all around winter -
The infantry wheezes in the mud
We didn't feel like sleeping
And sick because of something
And then we started this one talk
In an hour of fearsome silence
"Where the hell did the devils throw us,
At the end of time, little brother?
Where the hell did the demons lead us,
At the end of time, little brother?"

I yelled to him - "just look
At these bitches' faces!
They don't give a damn - let the country burn too!
They'll sell us off again tomorrow
We'll make a splendid harvest!"
And he replied - "Quit it, man
You know that God respects us"
And he replied - "Quit it, man
You know that God respects us
Respects us..."

Everything's down to zero
We can already see
The hole of great shame
The country lives by handouts
Of the bastard who sold everything
Their liberal asses took out our flags
No chicks, no vodka, no more food
Just dark ditches
No virgins, no meaning, no more food
Just dead ditches

I cannot find anymore words
And get very annoyed by
His "keep patient, brother
You know that God respects us"
Why do we need this kind of God?
Where are our bright roads?
That's when we were torn from our problems
By a heavy cry of alarm
That's when we were torn from the problems
By a heavy cry of alarm
Alarm!

We woke up again, the two of us
In a white medical batallion
I remember only the door's opening
And how we vomited to bits..

He died slowly and quietly
Faded like the snow from an alley...

I understood something -
He didn't lie,
But don't dare tell about it
I understood something -
He was right
But I dare not express it...

Since then, when there's no
Funds for drink
And they kick me around hard...

I always say: "Don't ****, my man
You know that God respects us"
I always say: "Hold on, my brother
You know that God respects us"
I always say: "We'll get it, brother
You know that God respects us"
I always say: "We'll win!
You know that God respects us"

Dead City (Christmas)
I won't pass for an answer,
Where bullets are the question
Where every step - centimeter
Time is five cigarettes

The dead city buries
Its voices
Lost and wandering
Among the walls - skies

Christmas has come
It is dark in the basement
How many souls have been taken
By the window on the other side?

I forgot that in nature
Something still exists
On the sixth we had a birth
At six minutes to six...

And by morning the snow came
After prolonged fire
This snow killed me
Put out my short century

I took it into my palm
Spat dirt and dust into the white
Is this fantasy or truth?
This - eternity or filth?

This city shattered
But didn't become a cross
The fallen city drank
Full of life before the fast

Here the shell-shocked stars
Burn a new Bethlehem
For the cradle - birches
Arms and legs - not for all

Merry Christmas, steel
A bandage for a crown
Nurse - Mother Theresa
With a beautiful face

Last night, in rustles
I remembered days
When we pulled in the curtains
When we were alone...

And by morning the snow came
After prolonged fire
This snow killed me
Put out the 20th century

I took it into my palm
Spat dirt and dust into the white
Is this fantasy or truth?
This - eternity or filth?

I won't pass for an answer
Where bullets are the question
Where every step - centimeter
Time is five cigarettes

The dead city with empty
Eyes is with me
I shot blanks, yesterday
When I was still alive

Cool stuff! Aussies will be Aussies. And fine american slide guitar and otherwise blues playing will always get my respect. Kinda nice to remember that there's very strong flavours within English-language music once you get past the same-sounding pop/rock stuff!

I gotta say, being a linguist I'm pretty fascinated by listening to languages I don't understand, so the smooth Spanish stuff was cool and the second Lithuanian video is nice too.

Also curious how so much Scandinavian music these days seems to be sung in English.

Tämän taivaan alla-Under this sky

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xd8w6VBYDHM

Between moon and sun there's a creature with the face of a snake and the leavings of an angel.

Is that all that is left of me. Where I was and where i flew.

Escalated wind is beating on strings of flagpoles. Escalated wing blows over tree stalks.

Under this sky wind blows and it searchs for an equal, and a small human crosses his hands to pray. But the prayer is only a mumbling in the wind, no one hears it, and if somewhere someday god is found he won't regocnise me as his child as his image.

From the lap of oblivion rises to the irongray sky a flocks of birds, when the wind spreads dust upon us.

I am afraid of death, no one here walks on the surface of water.
I am afraid of death, and i am afraid to live here.

Under this sky wind blows and it searchs for an equal, and a small human crosses his hands to pray. But the prayer is only a mumbling in the wind, no one hears it, and if somewhere someday god is found he won't regocnise me as his child as his image.

My favorite band of all time is Skinny Puppy... Technically they came from Montreal Canada, but they relocated to the US in the mid 80's.

Unfortunately, some of those have poor quality sound.
Also... I'm like the only person I know who likes this kind of music so this isn't a very good representation of American popular music. For American popular music right now, you have to go into the (grimace) pop princesses area that I refuse to go into.
:/\\chop
(edit) This is what happens when i don't fully read the rules.. Skinny Puppy is pretty well known internationally and is more popular in other countries than they are here. I'll have to hunt up some local stuff that other countries wouldn't know about. (This is going to take a while and be very difficult. I hate about 99.9% of my country's local music music.)
