Have you ever wondered if a ship is worth the eel?

1st place I looked was the community manual which is a phenomenal resource. Then I checked here in the forums and also found a partial somewhat outdated list.
So....

I scavenged the community manual as well as some of my own patrol notes, config files and RE-created this list.

The renown values are from the game config files. Some of the tonnages are also from the files BUT some are from my own patrol kills. So be advised the tonnages do vary. I guess as in real life not all ships weigh the same loaded. Not too mention if the crew had pasta that night.

Granted many times if you make it inside a convoy you have to shoot and get the hell out of dodge. But every now and then, you have a few moments to make a choice, hopefully this list will make it very easy for folks to do that.

Good job. In case those interested, Floating Docks 1 & 2 are worth 25 and 30 renown points. Yes not much but their tonnages are worth it to sink in early career to get more medals for crews.

I just doubled checked. Ya seems strange. There are actually 2 large tanker listings one is 8k-ish tons the other 11k, both are the same renown reward. :hmm:


If we change the renown value in the file will it change in game?

And now the question if the old calculation for the realismgrade is the same?
base ship renown value x ((0,75 x realsim%)+0,25) as mentioned in the sh3 community!

How about comparing a large merchant to a C3 for renown, see that's two times more and C3 is usually in similar tonnage as large merchant. Also large merchant is more common to find in shipping lanes than C3, at least it is for me. Also I notice large merchant is more valuable than any tankers, some cruisers, and 4th most valuable in cargo ship category beside some liners. Who thinks renown for large merchant is too high?

First I thought sinking an Allied submarine wasn't worth it until I looked into submarine files.

S-Class - 320 renown
T-Class - 420 renown
Gato - 280 renown
Balao - 280 renown
SclassUS - 230 renown
SclassUS sm - 430 renown
Scuka - 220 renown

Now I'm going try find one of these and attack.

BTW sank a ceramic type ocean liner this morning that broke 14k tons.

You would think the tankers would a higher value than the merchant ships since they were considered the higher priority to the war effort.
