The Americans and Iraqis agree that the two women were probably blown up with remote-controlled detonators. The investigation is still underway, but Commander Scott Rye, a US military spokesman, says: "There have been one or two incidents involving the mentally impaired in recent years. But this is the first time we have seen mentally impaired suicide bombers -- women who were incapable of understanding what they were being used for."
This suggests that terrorists in Iraq have reached a new low, and that al-Qaida has embarked on a depraved strategy: the use of the disabled as willing bomb carriers, extinguished like characters in a perverse computer game -- by the push of a button on a mobile phone converted into a remote detonator. (Investigators found a converted mobile phone near the site of the attack.)
This new method of bombing is also an expression of hard times for al-Qaida in Iraq. More military roadblocks have made it tougher for jihadists to use car bombs -- which have, in fact, grown less common -- and according to the American military, the number of jihadists entering Iraq from other countries has dropped by half.

Why do I think of Nazi experiments in concentration camps when reading this article.

Al Qaeda in Iraq as it calls itself are loosing on two fronts. The have lost most support among the Iraqi population while the US strategy appears to be working. The clock is ticking and time is running out for these sick wankers.

Actually Sky it reminds me of the Japanese Unit 731 horrors.

Those monsters.

Everybody knows mentally disabled people are meant to be euthanized in the US and Europe. Why can't Al-Qaeda accept these standards?

Well, yes, but where is the difference between experiments inNazi KZs and the "chemical reasearch project" of unit 731 (if I recall the meaning of 731 correctly).

Did you have a bad day, or am I missing the point in your "joke"?

Unit 731 also blew people up for the so-called purpose of studying the effects of explosives on the human body which is why it sprung to mind immediately with me. That's all.

 Thats sick, if anything the terrorists will only lower their position in the eyes of the Iraqi public. May be too soon to say this, but for once the Yanks strategy actually seems to be paying off in certain areas of the country. Lets hope that they can stop this utter madness too.

This is sick. I guess these fellas are struggling to find volunteers to blow themselves up when they have to recruit the mentally disabled.

Al Qaeda must be close to the breaking point armys and terrorist groups allways revert to their nastiest tactics near the end.

That's lazy thinking.
They want war, sacrifice and bloodshed. If I were in Al-Qaeda, if I ever bothered about the presidential race I'd be praying for a Republican.

I wonder if the guys pushing the buttons believe they still get their 72 virgins by proxy? I'm certain there's probably something in the Koran about using women in this fashion. They go through so much trouble to keep them virginal until marriage and all that. I'd love to see their website that justifies this kind of killing.

Don't forget the video showing 10 year olds holding a man at gun point.

That's funny. Republicans are the only ones willing to fight them. Democrats pretend that terrorism doesn't exist. Or they just blame the victim. Believe me, Al Qaeda is drooling over the prospect of Hillary or Obama as President. Any Dem for that matter.

Heard of this before, sick and twisted. In RL I do some work with adults with intellectual disabilities, many people still tend to think of this population as simple minded. Yet I know I have learned more from them then they will ever learn from me.

Psychiatric case files of two female suicide bombers who killed nearly 100 people in Baghdad this month show that they suffered from depression and schizophrenia but do not contain information indicating they had Down syndrome, American officials said Wednesday.
