After finishing a patrol, I get a couple of medals, it states "bla bla for your two patrols on the USS Pike", thing is I am on my forth patrol on the USS Drum

Not a major problem as it does not effect gameplay (i think) , as each of the four patrols, I always get the same two medals.

Edit - using patch 1.4 , only mods are remove grain effect and ROW sound effects vs8

Yep, noticed that too. The number of war patrols after receiving a commendation or medal never adds up to the actual amount of war patrols completed.

I say bug, as I've had weirdness in the citations too. In my current career, I got my first medal of honor and purple heart for my gallant deeds on the USS Spearfish's 4th patrol. In fact, I only was on my 3rd patrol in good ol' SS-190, and after that one, I was given command of the USS Drum. My second medal of honor came about after that first USS Drum patrol, but the citation said for my 5th USS Spearfish patrol.

What do you expect, if the clerk/typists back at headquarters were any good, they'd have ship postings, not shore duty :p

While I may not get the right number of medals for the patrols finished, I do always get the proper boat name. That's odd.

Why oh why didn't SH4 include proper medal names (yes, fixed through mods I know) and include the SUBMARINE COMBAT PATROL INSIGNIA? It would have been so cool to earn your combat pin and stars.

Ubi claims that the real medals are copyrighted. So they either wouldn't pay, or couldn't use them because of that.

Many medals are not awarded immediately. There are political hobnobs, deal-making, favors called in and body counting which sometimes takes a couple of months before the medals are actually awarded. Then on your return from your fourth patrol you find yourself receiving medals from your second patrol. Not a bug, but reality.

It is when you keep getting the same medal that says "2 war partrol" and you've just finished your 14th.

I agree, if you get 4 Bronze Stars in a row and the screen always refers to the first time you were awarded the medal then this is a bug.
I also noticed that putting in a harbour for refueling is counted as a completed patrol:On my first patrol I was to patrol the Aleutians and after that I had to put into Dutch Harbor. As soon as I returned to Pearl I was awarded a Bronze Star for my 3rd, I repeat 3rd patrol(!).

They are way to optimistic! It's July 1944 and Japanese ships have become as rare as a funny "Friends" episode.:rotfl: I'm on patrol for over a month (on my 6th patrol) and the only ship I've sunk so far was a Momi class DE.:shifty:

That's because those patrols are very much alike in the number of commercial and military ships you've sunken. Try and double the military ships number and the medals will change.

Again I say I'm sitting out here in September 1944. For my last two cruises (including this one) I've been awash in task forces containing two or three merchies surrounded by four or five escorts. In spite of the fact that I have to fight my way through the escorts I can't seem to come home with under 30k tons. Last cruise, after I ran out of all kinds of ammunition, I was tracking three such convoys at the same time, all simultaneously within radar range!

This is with TM, RSRD and Natural Sinking Mechanics. I am baffled why my experience is so different from everybody else. In the meantime my game is much more dangerous than it has been as I'm forced to fight the escorts to get to the tonnage.

"What did ya say, laddie?"

"Oh, I'm sorry, let me correct myself. I didn't mean to say the Enterprise should be TOWING garbage. I mean to say that the Enterprise should be towed away AS garbage."

Followed by lots of laughter, some Russian guy trying to stop your engineer from taking a punch at some guy, lots of tables and chairs flying in the bar, lots of glasses breaking against the wall, etc......

And then, of course, you get the call from the shore patrol about your crew in a fight, and no one wants to say who started it. There was mention of someone saying the captain of your ship having delusions of godhood, but we're big enough to take a few insults, right?

Trekkies: you can't live with 'em, and you can't shoot 'em.

Well, you can, but it does reduce the options for life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.

He he, sorry about that, but anyone who refers to your ship as a garbage scow triggers that sequence in my memory.
