Taking another shot

I'm back to SHIV after waiting 6 months or so for mods and patches to finally trickle down to the masses. Most of my major beefs with the game have been fixed by 1.4 and the trigger maru pack. One thing I'm noticing is the serious reduction in "infinite patrols" while traversing the middle of the pacific, 1000 miles from any land mass. BUT...I'm getting attacked at night now!! It will be in the middle of the night and a patrol of aircraft will drop bombs on me while I'm in the other room. What's the deal?
Is this right? I'm also noticing it doesn't get fully dark at night until some time around 10:30 at night...Is this right too? There only seems to be 9-10 hours of sunlight or so.

SH4 does seem to have more air activity than what transpired historically. However, with the advantage of reliable air search radar none of us have the excuse of being caught napping.;) Can't speak for the long stretches of daylight except that's not uncommon in northerly latitudes in the summer.

If using TM you will have the night attack problems which Ducimus is working on correcting I think.
