I know the game is fixed at 1024x768 resolution, but is there absolutely any way to change it so that it doesn't stretch on my monitor? (which is 1280x1024) Like having some blank space above and below the game screen. I tried windowed mode but it's way too small.

You need to go into your graphics card interface and tell it to keep the aspect ratio when running programmes.
What graphics card are you running?

Thanks for the reply. I just got my nVIDIA XFX GeForce 6200 today. I gotta try it out later though because I don't have access to my PC right now.

Nice card.
I run Nvidia on desktop and ATI on laptop. Both of them let you adjust the display through the system tray or Control Panel and they should let you check a box to leave the aspect ratio alone regardless of your display screen shape.

Okay now there isn't any option for me to keep fixed aspect ratio. The option just isn't given. I'm pretty sure I updated my drivers... :shifty:

This may work, but I'm not sure...
Go through the nView Desktop Manager, go to Desktops then Properties. Try changing the 'Choose how the background appears...' to Center. This may only adjust the background but may enable you to open SH3 centred rather than stretched.

Just been browsing and came across this thread which may help you out:

Thanks for all the help you offered but I already tried everything that was suggested and it still doesn't work :damn: :nope:

No problem, sorry I couldn't help.
It may be worth starting a new thread with something like 'Screen resolution' as a title. Some of the more experienced Kaleuns won't look at anything with NOOB in the title and they're the ones who can probably help out.

I see you've already looked at it, but the method described in the above post is what I use and everything looks fine to me at 1280 x 1024. If it's stretched it doesn't look like it.

I did try widescreen on my notebook and that did look stretched.
