Contact bearing compass for GWX

What’s it for?
In GWX 2.0 contacts appear on the map without an exact heading. Heading is given something like NW (northwest) or SSE (south-southeast). This makes an intercept more challenging, because the usual attack is: laying in wait on the target’s path to make visual contact and then do the visual plotting. This compass sheet (pdf file) makes it easier.

It's part of my personal 'Kaleun handbuch', a collection of sheets and forms. Thought I'd like to share.

Edit: this compass is now part of my 'document collection'. Read more here:

canovaro,

could you give a pictorial example -

can you show me how it works on your map ?

i relate better to 'show' than 'tell.'

sounds v. inertesting....

This is nice. What other sheets and forms do you have?

I think using stuff like this adds to the "role playing" aspect of the game

I think using stuff like this adds to the "role playing" aspect of the game

Things like:
Target speed / bearing table for firing torpedo "straight shots".
Officer training program form.
Contact and convoy observation note sheets.
And hydrophone speed calculation tables, although the data on these are orginally mine.

I can't sink a hip without those sheets!!

please forgive me !

so this is not a mod, but a printable sheet to work from ?

also,

I will post either just that or the whole stuff here soon.

I had a text file for that and have been doing the same as you with the following addition.

Based on the contacts speed converted into Km/hr (use pull down chart in GWX2), I take the ruler and draw line segments showing where the convoy will be at the top of every hour. Then, you plot a navigation line to the vague convoy track. Using your navigator and your line segments, you can adjust your intercept such that you arrive say at an intercept area a couple of hours prior to the convoy allowing optimum time to setup the shot.

Thanks for the PDF; looks nicer than my text file.

Looks like a handy plotting intercept tool. Have printed it out and will give it a try. Thanks.
