I cant seem to dock at allied ports to refuel, exept actually at full on submarine bases, i try to refuel a Port Moresby, as i need the fuel to get my Gato from Pearl Harbour to that area and need to refuel to operate in that area, then refuel for journey back

You can only refuel at habors that are marked by an anchor. All other ports are just eyecandy. I hope you can make it back to Pearl!

There is no need to refuel a Gato-class for that. Just make your passage at 2/3rds or better yet, set the speed at 9 knots. I've just sailed from Midway to the entrance to the Makassar Straits in the S. Celebes Sea in the USS Drum and arrived with 70% of my fuel left. More then enough to complete my patrol and return, although the port of Darwin is available to me for refueling if I become neglectfull of my fuel management.
If you make the passage at any higher or slower speed, you will run into fuel limitations.

Welcome to subsim. Refueling stations go farther west especially in 1944 and 1945. Alot depends also on which mods you have enabled. If you can just set your speed to 10 knots you will notneed to worry about fuel.:know:

Just want to clarify the answer. I am new to sub sims and have been playing with unlimited fuel to practice my targeting and evasion techniques, since it takes so long to get anywhere. And the fact that I'm not doing so well :lol: I have been refitting for more torpedos at a couple of harbors that have anchors but no real base. I am assuming it is ships anchored there for this reason? Will a refit somewhere other than your home port also refuel you? I do it to restock torps so if it will work for fuel it will let me take one more step toward "realisitc mode". thanks for any help. I have a couple other questions but I will start a new thread so I don't change the topic on this one.

Peabody, that is correct, it's essentially Rearm/Refuel. That's why Ducimus has remedied that in TMaru (the option screen actually shows Rearm/Refuel, that is, and not Refit).

Thank you DrBeast for your help. I am running "stock" with ROW and Warship retextured and my video card is just hanging on. So I hesitate to add any more mods right now. I am trying to learn this as much as possible to get off easy mode because I am sure I am picking up bad habits by using it. For example using Flank speed more often than is necessary!!!

Hi, a question... is the range affected from hull status?
I just destroyed my first Kongo battleship and after managing to get away from the escort I noticed that I don't have enought fuel to go back to the base.
I really didn't realize to be this "short" on fuel before the attack so I was wondering if it could depend on damage.
I am using a samon sub and actually I'm 250 miles West from manila with 32% of fuel. The crew is 100% effective and well rested. My hull has 18% of damage.
The fastest route to the nearest port (Soerabaia) is 1680 miles and instead my estimated range is around 1000 miles.
I'm pretty sure that not long before my attack the estimated range was much longer than that... but I might be wrong.
Any suggestion or hint? Thanks

It is very possible to get hull damage, especially from ill-considered surface action, that will give you a fuel leak. Your engineer is one of those minimum wage engineers and won't say a word. But you'll find out!:damn:

yep, I though about that too. I tryed to not move for a long long while and the fuel level didn't decrease so it doesn't seem like a leak... but there is surely something not working right... damn engineer! :damn:
I guess I'll have to start from the last VERY OLD savegame before the attack and go hunting for another Kongo to sink! :dead: I've done it once I can do it twice!
thanks for the help anyway
I do get the impression myself hull damage decreases your range. I suspect it's ineffiency rather than fuel leak. Another incentive to keep your risk level low.

with innefiency coming from the sub conditions or from the crew members?
because the crew looks allright.
