I'm sorry if this is a rather personal question, but I need some advice, as my lassie is going through a tough time right now.

What do you guys do, to cheer your women up?

If it's something like depression, there are times when there are no words that can express the comfort you want to give to that person and the best thing to do is to say nothing and simply be there next to them. That's really the best one can do in that sort of situation.

Would you mind enlightening us more, KP?

Just be there for her.

If you two have children together, pamper her by doing the housework she usually does. Start giving her time to herself on her hobby. My wife can sit for hours reading a book while I tend to the kids.

my bosslady has had some tough times whilst overseas.

i've just told her exactly the same thing i've told her when shes here and doing it tough.

1: smile, it helps you feel better :D
2: i got a big set of shoulders to cry on and failing that, satellite dishes for ears to listen with.

Are you married? If not she may want a ring. If you are married maybe she wants little ones. Women are fickle creatures but we can't live without them.

Seriously though, a lot of times a major change of pace helps. If you have the money plan a vacation trip or something where the two of you can get some away time together. Sometimes it doesn't even have to be fancy, women like those bed and breakfast places (but those are hard to book sometimes). You're in the UK right? Maybe a quick plane flight to a warmer climate would help. Me, I take her to Las Vegas or my folks place in Florida. It is amazing how 4 or 5 days away from home and worries can recharge the batteries.

Thanks guys, no, we're not married yet (bit young for that :p) and its not really a serious thing. She's a little sick right now and feeling a bit down because of it. I wish I could get over this damned ocean to be there

Kick them in the region of the Fatty Tissue, that wakes them up [especially addressing the things in a pair that now sags that never did before] - then they see the light. :D They usually join Weight Watchers as the next step of STEP ONE of 12. :)

You could always try to cheer her up with flowers...unless you already did that for this week...like you were supposed to... (Valentine's Day and all)...

Well most of my regular suggestions have already be mentioned (flowers) or distances stops them from being done (backscatches, walks, taking her out to see something she's intrested in). Regular contact by phone and email ( A video of yourself doing something romatic or funny (or both) would go down well) A letter or two would get even greater effect!

Good luck with it all!:D

Hi KP

Speaking as someone who spends half his life overseas away from his family...

Phone calls at unexpected times are the answer...

Example...
Your in the USA and she's in the UK, call her at 9am UK time.

She's all... "Isn't it the middle of the night where you are?"
Your all... "Couldn't sleep, thinking of you babe"

Just set your alarm clock, make the call then go back to sleep.

Tried and Tested!

Just adjust for whichever way round the 2 of you are with timezones.

Just be there for her Kapt, and tell her that we're all thinking of our Ubootewaffe Engel.

if she comes to you with a problem:
Don't ever try to fix her...Just shut up and listen to her

(I know it sounds stupid because we (men) prefer to fix the problem. But you know...women world works a little different  )

Ring her, tell her how special she is, how much your missing her and the fact she's always at the forefront of your thoughts........Then tell her you love her.
