Something to chew on whether you want to attach a scriptural perspective or not.

As the article points out this is the first time data has been correlated to display the culmulative impact of humans on the oceans in a global scale. Considering that most of the O2 we breath comes from the oceans biosphere, maybe we ought to pay attention to this... :huh:

I've given some thought to that particular verse myself. It raises a couple questions/points-to-ponder in my mind.

1. The Blood of a Dead Man: It isn't red. It's black, thick and sticky. Much like an oil spill.

2. The Sea (as known in Biblical times): The Mediteranean was the main body of water they were familiar with.

From the perspective of what they knew (geographically) Revelations could be referring to a more localized area for some of the events mentioned, although many (such as plague) would almost certainly be world-wide. None-the-less, the Med choked by oil is not that difficult to imagine should a war take place there. A couple super tankers and a few other ships going down would certainly make a mess of things. Especially in coastal areas.

I don't say this to make any claims to having special insights or to be a modern day prophet. And I make no claims to know if and when they will happen (I really wouldn't want to know). It's just interesting (for me anyway) to look on prophesies from a perspective of what the contemporary writers understood when they wrote them. It even makes them a little more plausible in my mind.
