Well, the title says it all. When you have the basics of convoy hunting down, what else should a GWX2 player do for a variety and a different taste?
I get the impression that the GWX Team has included a wealth of goodies, but offhand I am not sure where I should go explore. Recently, I have just spent a lot of time going back to AM29 to hunt convoys in the area.
Thanks.

The Mediterranean! :up:
other than that, let me make you a little short list of suggestions :D
Visit the Canary Islands, If you're lucky the weather might not suck :doh:
Go way out there and see The US eastern seaboard in 1942, sink yourself a tanker or 10 :smug:
Visit Guantanamo Bay, watch out for MTBs :arrgh!:
Do that type IXD2 thing, go to the south atlantic, make a nuisance of yourself around Capetown, refuel at a Milchkuh and have yourself a pleasure cruise up the Brazilian Coast before heading back to France or Penag depending on what takes your fancy
Visit Der Kanal, they have all sorts of Interesting stuff there :D
Harass the Russians in a type IId in the Black Sea
Umm, the list is near endless, you could always hang the map on a wall and throw a dart at it with your eyes closed, see where that takes you
GWX, there's more to explore....:D

What's the best resource when doing your GWX vacation planning? Is it mainly the PDF manual? Thanks.

yep, the Manual
I shouldn't have to say this but I'm going to anyway :D
<obligatory and obvious>
Read the F'ing Manual!! :know:
</obligatory and obvious>
the scripted campaign events are the things to read, note down the time and place and you can be there for groovy stuff like the Torch landings. operation Pedestal, Weserubung, the Scharnhorst & Gneisenau raid into the Atlantic, and there is also an Iowa Class BB near Casablanca at some point :up:

Another idea... why not modify the game and start a career in a XXI elektroboot in 1939? See how far you get with that one... and see how much more you can sink. This obviously only applies if you do not have to have everything 100% historically accurate. It is VERY fun, however!! OK... I'll admit it, I got sunk on my second GWX 2.0 patrol in late October, 1939 with my XXI. Not because that escort was too good... I was way too over confident in my new boat. Yeah, right... who am I kidding... those escorts are A LOT better than I am! HAHA! :rotfl: Anyway... if it's fun your after... nothing beats harrassing the Royal Navy (you can literally PLAY WITH and taunt the escorts during the "Happy Times") and the world's merchants in a XXI for almost 6 years!! :yep:

:o
Like.... mines EVERYWHERE that tend to go "BOOM !!!" when you float past them.:dead: I'd only go there if I wanted a SHORT vacation.
Grab a IXD2 and see if you can get to Penang! Then transfer to the Monsun flotilla there and see what you can find around the Indian Ocean.
Head over to the US and take some pictures of the Statue of Liberty and NY harbour, go on a carribean cruise and catch some rays. Keep a good lookout for Airships, ghostships, whales and dolphins as well.
There's plenty to do. I've been at it over two years and still haven't explored half of what's possible.
Hang out outside Freetown, then follow a northbound convoy. You gave a good two weeks to decimate the formation.
On the way down stop by the Cape Verde Islands. GWX converted these baren islands where salt mines is the main business into a lovely tropical paradise. :sunny:

Regardless of which mod you use, this is actually a rather nice suggestion :yep: :rotfl:
I remember a very old thread at ubi from the days, when mods were few, a guy named Celeon999 took his boat the whole world around - I imagine using high TC - going down along the African coast, going to check out Antarctic and visiting the Hawaii islands plus crossing the map border line in the Pacific. The game has been out for years now, and I have yet to do the same. Hmm... :hmm:

Yeh, I've wondered about that map borderline thing and how it would work but never took the time to go and see, it is a long long way out there after all. and with the Panama Canal inaccessible it's even longer
Might be a way to visit Argentina the long way round, going Via Capetown, Jakarta, then one of the most Easterly Japanese Bases, then out into the south Pacific, where there's nothing at all, then through the Magellan Straits and North to Buenos Aires, a IXD2 could easily do this with only one stop along the way for fuel, but it will take forever at 9 knots :hmm:

I always enjoyed making my way to the east coast off the US for Operation Drum Beat. Hang around the major ports for ships. Keep an eye on the fuel. That was always fun and challenging to me.

i´m agree
i tried it with a iX-C boat and it was one of my best patrols ever.
A lot of shipping sailing alone in well know routes, and no scorts, i was with a good weather and i sunk more than 70.000 tons of shipping.
you have to be careful with fuel, stay dived during the day and recharge at night,
Another good challenge is sneak in the med with a IX-b boat as i did, and scape to the atlantic again, or go to the caribbean.
