SOS!!!!! uninstalled silent hunter 3 and i can't install it again!

hey guys, i'm pretty new to this website. i installed silent hunter 3 a few months ago and quickly became proficient in the art of operating a german u-boat and sinking ships. i tried to install a mod but my game kept crashing, so i uninstalled the game to install it again. i originally downloaded it from the site (didnt by the DVD). whenever i try to run "setup" it doesn't respond. what do i do?

Where did you download SH3 from ?

If it was D2D, contact them and give them your account details and they should be able to help you download a fresh copy.

hey guys, im new to this website. i got silent hunter 3 a year ago, stopped playing, then started again a few months ago. i tried to download a mod but i forgot to download the jonesoft generic mod enabler so the game would crash before i got to the main menu, so i uninstalled it so i can install it again. i downloaded the game from the ubisoft.com website (didn't buy the DVD). i tried to install it again and whenever i clicked on setup.exe the window would say "not responding". please help, this is frustrating!

i downloaded from ubi.com, and searched up and down for their technical support and i get nothing.

i go to the silent hunter 3 folder on my desktop and double click "setup" and after a while the cursor turns into a sand clock and when i click, it goes into "not responding".

Make sure you uninstalled everything. Do a search in the forum for tips and clues.
In the mean time do this:
delete your SH3 folder in "My Documents"
delete anything left in your ubisoft folder, and then delete the ubisoft folder.
delete the SHIII key in your InstallShield folder
delete the StarFarce drivers if present
run a registry cleaner (there are several free ones--Google it) http://files.filefront.com/sh3+regcleanzip/;9304459;/fileinfo.html
After all this, try to reinstall the game.

If that doesn't work contact support at Ubisoft and detail what you did.

where can i find the starface and installshield folders? those are the only things i haven't done yet.

To find the InstallShield folder, open C:\program files\Installshield\ and search for it. My ubisoft key started with 96......; I don't know if yours is different or if they are all the same. I deleted mine and then I could reinstall the game.
I suppose the safest thing to do is to copy the contents of the InstallShield folder to your desktop, delete the files from the InstallShield folder and then restore them when you have reinstalled the game.
I couldn't get the game to reinstall until deleted the key.

If your system is anything like mine (I have 34 separate files) Each folder should have one file entitled 'setup' Configuration Settinfs which when double clicked should open with Notepad.
Open one at a time until you find the one appertaining to SH3.
