View Full Version : Question about setting a patrol gris in SH Commander

I was forced to dock in a German base (Not my main one) for repairs. When I came out of the mission, I rolled back SH Commander and went to bed.

When I started the game up, I put in my assigned patrol grid from my failed mission last night so I could continue the mission. When I load the game however, the game keeps setting my patrol grid as "Nul".

What's the correct procedure to get this to work ? Should I not roll back SHIII and just exit the game, change the patrol grid and then go back into the game without rolling it back ?

The reason it is null is because you only get assigned a patrol area when you've docked at your home port. Basically what it means is: "Good that you've been repaired and bunkered up. Now get your heinie back to home port so we can figure out where to send you next".

"And so we can ""discuss"" your idea of having a surfaced deck gun duel with a Black Swan."

Seriously, I thought that if I docked at a milk cow before I got to my patrol area, I could re-set the patrol grid so I could continute the mission.

After docking at any friendly port using SHCommander it will always asign your next patrol area as "null". It means you can patrol what ever grid you like. So if you want to continue with the one you were asigned with before then go ahead!

Only when you get back to your home port will it asign you another particular patrol area/grid.

Good hunting!

I have a feeling that it's going to be to the nearest internment camp after that last mission.

Don't get too fond of those renown points. The GWX team has announced you will no longer be awarded renown for patrolling your assigned sector in the forthcoming GWX 2.1 :hmm: Go for the tonnage.

What motivated that decision?
Now there is no reason to obey orders.

A search in the Mod forum can provide the actual posts, but it was explained that the decision was based on the premise that you shouldn't receive an award for doing your assigned task. Granted, there is no penalty for failure to patrol the sector, but the idea was that "any good kaleun would carry out their orders". Last I read on the subject, it seemed that it was a done deal. I'm not saying I necessarily agree with it, but that's my understanding of what GWX 2.1 will bring regarding renown points.

There are some valid points made regarding the issues of renown when patrolling in areas outside the default Kriegsmarine map area.
