If you run time compression higher than 256X you greatly decrease the chance of running across aircraft. But, trust me, if you run at 256X or slower, they ARE out there!

i usually go slow when im in an air covered region (check map on top left corner of map screen if you run gwx) and speed it up a little when im out of the air coverage umbrella.
I'm 5th day on North Sea and I have the same problem, no aircrafts in this region (sep/39). Don't tell me about time compression, because i play in realtime. Where is the problem? Or maybe in 1939 the aircrafts was a little danger and not very often spotted?

Air cover was not very tight and effective in the early years. Enjoy the peacefull sailing as long as you can :D
The day will come when you remember the "Happy times". Not a single day without the postman from above.
I´m on 2nd patrol in Nov. 39 and i love the quiet ocean cruise. Convoys with only one escort...
:smug: Yes, of course i'm enjoy this.

Excuse me Kaleun, but... who in the grace of the lord with half his mind working would call this a "problem"?:o
I play Stock SHIII, I'm in August 1940 and I'm yet to encounter a flying tommie!
Though I know you won't care a bit about a Stock SHIII example... sorry:oops:

Yep, they are out there, i got some serious damage on my first gwx2 patrol (sept39) courtesy of a costal command plane that came out of nowhere.
As someone has already said, keep it below 256x and you`ll encounter far more planes (i tend not to go higher than 128x).
After 1942 you`ll be going up and down like a damn yoyo to avoid allied air patrols, especially in areas like the bay of biscay.

Yep, aircraft are there. I run at no more than 128TC and started my career in Sept 39. Currently on my second patrol in November 1939 spotted an Anson just north of Scotland but luckily I dived and he didn't spot me, other than that no further Allied aircraft spotted, so far!
