Why is it that politicians that got a kick in their bottom and were urged out of office - so often seem to fall the ladder upwards? I thought that democarcy means that you can also vote for people being left out of office...? But you cannot get rid of them, like bad smell they stay around, like grease dripping from your shoulder they follow you, everywhere, no matter what.

Another moralist spreading chaos in the name of order. Well, the EU ranks so low in my respect that such a fool suits her well as president. So, let him go, let him be glorious president and oh so great statesman and big leader and ruler in history. Will signal all the world what a hysteric ape-house the EU really is.

We had a saying in the U.S. Post Office union ranks...

If you can't do the job, don't worry...they'll promote you to management.

Don`t worry, don`t worry :)
First, there must be an institution of the president of EU. And honestly speaking, there`s already a whole big bunch of old *****s who are far from reality and would be willing to take the office so, considering this, Blair is perhaps the best among the bad candidates.

Again, to best honest: EU is not that bad but it really lacks two things: effective executive power and democracy - these guys high there are just bureaucrats that are not elected by the people and that`s NOT ok.

We still don't know exactly what the role of the council President, as a person and not as a national government, will be. The first President is expected to formulate the job description through trial and error.
For that reason alone I hope TB doesn't get it, not so much for his governmental record than for his political style.

Tony Blair did nothing while he was in power apart from making my life a living hell with his crass ideas and tax. That aside, Tchocky's point, that of Tony Blair's political style is spot on. Tony Blair will gladdy take you down the pub after he has had his way with your wife, so to speak.

Whats funny here is that you guys call this a democracy. Far from it. You have the EU Union, consisting of 12 non elected members, or should I say elitists. China is less communistic if you want to compare.

No truer words were ever said. :yep: :know:

75% of the running of the UK is done by the EU and at this moment in time our own MP's are debating and giving more power the EU. :damn:

At this rate what is the bloody point of having Parliament and 645 MP's.

What about a "stopcreationofeuropeanpresidency" campaign?
France and Netherlands voted no to the constitution, and our beloved European politicians changed a few words, so countries, which requiere referendums, would be denied the right to vote about a renewed treaty. Normally Denmark votes for treaties and those politicians are freightened as H**L that we should vote NO, just like France and Netherlands did. Back then it was said: we need a thinking pause and discuss EU in our countries. Well, fellow Europeans, how much has the debate about EU and a renewal of this new treaty been discussed between politicians and population in your countries? I can only speak for Denmark, and it ain't much. We have also been refused a referendum, so there we are: EU is now the club for bureaucrates with the populations as willing donkeys to pull the waggon.
So I don't really give a damn about which bureaucrate is in office. They're all the same...
