Attention pilots,

by the idea of Xabbarus, we are going to have ourselfs a little tournament.
We start with the first category Bi-planes.
those would be the following:

J8A Gladiator
I-153 M64
Fiat G42

(Note: the I-153 P variant is not available due its Cannon armanent)

the area we fight is not going to be the Island map due some performance glitches.

we are going to use the regular flat Dogfight map with clouds around 1500 meters:

the map is going to modified, only the airfield in grid C4 and C1 are available.

Server Realism: 100% except for the speedbar

Rules:

1: When you are going to bail out, turn on Nav lights and bail out, and when you see the enemy turn on its nav light you will stop firing, you won.

2: when out of ammo, you may try to get back to base , land the aircraft properly and refly (re-arm) but the enemy is allowed to chase you till the end. Crashing on landing will be counted as a Loss and a victory for the other player

3: crashing by accident, is a victory for the other player and a loss for you.

Yea I get the humour m8 ;) but seriously. I must have issues with my viewing options I dont see diddly squat when i look around in cockpit view :-?

The other plane doesnt have to be too far, when the game only renders it as a spot. 2,5km or so. It's pretty easy to caught approaching plane against the sky or a cloud, but if it is near the ground, it's almost impossible to spot it.

One thing you could check is to open up your conf.ini located in the IL2 main folder, and find the entry for [Render_DirectX] or [Render_OpenGL] depending on which mode you play the IL2. Abit down there is a setting called VisibilityDistance=, I think the default is =2 and AFAIK, the maximum is VisibilityDistance=3.

Well,
we dont have to do all fights in 1 night you know.
as I would know that not anyone would be available that night so.

like we can do the fights who are available like:

Round 1 -

(HunterICX, Kratos, Nicl, Xabba and Dowly are on that night)

(Pending : Tarjak)
so when Tarjak is able on a other evening we just finish of round 1

and when we have competed against all of each other we move to the next round.

Hope you get used to it. It spices up the game quite a bit. Nothing beats flying to a battle of 50+ planes, icons off and locked cockpit. :up:

You will also fly better. Sometimes when using padlock you pull moves you shouldn't and crash.

This way you can fly more evenly.

Very true. Also, I've noticed that at times when using padlock and turning towards the enemy, when I go back to cockpit, I notice I am hardly even turning. When the enemy is moving horizontally on your padlock, it's hard to tell how much you are actually turning yourself.

Nooo!!!! its not the use of the locked cockpit ''I know i SUCK with that'' the issue i have is, when in locked cockpit view my screen is a pixelated mess..very blurry and as i said yesterday i cant see diddly squat.
Ive tried resetting the files that you pointed out yesterday Dowly.No difference. So if you all wanna just get on with the dogfight dont wait for me.I dont wanna hold things up, I'll look into this further.

Kratos, I recall that you've had a IL2 crash earlier this week?

I've had a power loss while flying IL2 and when I relaunched the game something was messed up, planes in cockpit view where pixelated and stuff. also looking outside and at my plane it wasnt the same.

what I did is , I opened the IL2 setup.
repicked my Configs (FX5700LE)
and also enabled in my Video card setting in Windows
2x AA and 2x AF

solved the problem for me.

Sod it ..reinstalled the game.. settings are.open-gl 1024x768x32 vast improvement only thing blocky now is the bar across the j8a's front cockpit view, which i tested settings on ..is this norm?

got rid of most of jaggy's but this is what im left with. I know its not a lot but while i got your attention might as well try and fix it ;)

You have to apply more anti-aliasing thru your ATI control panel. Tho, 9250 is pretty old card so no idea how much AA it can use. Anyway, that's completely normal. :up:

A mid-class cards are pretty cheap now that the new DX10 cards are out.

For example, a Geforce 7600GS 256MB DDR2 for AGP slot is 78,90€ in the place I buy my stuff and Finnish prices tend to be high-ish. And even the GeForce 8800GT's for PCI-e slot are rather cheap, around 220€

I don't think I'll join. I broke my right ring finger when I fell yesterday, and the splint I've got on it today won't be coming off for another week. I've been playing Red Baron 3D's FULL CANVAS JACKET mod, and it's not going well with the splint (bloody fingers are all jumbled up on the joystick!). Sorry guys, but I'm out.

That's usually my most suitable time. Either that or late Saturday or Sunday nights here but that's morning in EU.
