Greetings all,

I purchased SH4 when it launched, but promptly un-installed it due to a few bugs I just couldn't get over. One of which was the ability to watch torpedoes as they headed towards their targets. The ones you could watch on the map....my apologies, but I have no clue what the name of the screen is :-? .

I'm considering re-installing the game after seeing that SH4 got a best Sim for 2007 in Pc Gamer. The brief article explained that a LOT of the bugs had been fixed and the game runs great now. This is excellent news, but I'd like to hear from those who are playing now. Is the game better than it was at launch?

My Sub Sim knowledge is very limited and I usually play on the less realistic settings. I truly enjoyed SH3 and am looking forward to firing up SH4 depending on the response here.

Thanks folks!

Jump in. The waters lovely here in the Pacific:up:

Seriously, Most, if not all the, major bugs have gone. The attack map (which you were refering to) now works perfectly.

In addition to a nice and stable game engine you now have access to almost a years worth of mods to play around with.

By no stretch of the imagination am I a 'submarine geek' (meant in the nicest possible way) but I haven't fired up another game for about three months and have probably played ShIV fo about 9 months out of the 12 it's been out.

Maybe I am a submarine geek after all.

Good hunting

Thanks for the reply! I'm actually really starting to get into WWII Sub stuff. I watched Das Boot just before purchasing SH4 and loved every second of it. I also recently read the book, which hooked me further!

I'm glad to hear the game is running smooth. I just built a new rig and am dying to try out some high settings ;)

Any good mods for a New player to start out with?

Thanks!

I'm about 120 pages into the book after spending some of my Xmas gift money on it. (£1 off Amazon!!)
