I was following a convoy on the last patrol and it ducked into Liverpool....just for the heck of it I followed in submerged a little while later.....they were no where to be seen....I am guessing that they dont model this in the game.....I thought I was in for a turkey shoot.....no such luck

Convoys and most of the ships that move in the game are scripted between waypoints. As soon as they reach them they vanish only to appear again at their original position (unless of course the waypoints are in a circle so they stay visible all the time).

In terms of the convoys it is practically impossible to script them getting into harbours are the strain on the CPU and the memory will be huge. Also it will cause problems in the game engine as I don't think it will be able to cope with so many ships in such restricted space.

BBW is the man to ask about this but I think this is the answer to your question in a nutshell.

Fitting through tight chokepoints, lots of ships starting or stopping; these can be scripted in, but you will have dozens of ships colliding, burning and sinking.

Also not modelled into the game apparently are the dozens of harbor patrols, both ship and plane, which is why no u-boat ever went near places like Liverpool or Portsmouth - realistically you would be spotted in the shallow water and sunk very quickly. Look at the boats that tried to interdict at Normandy...all sunk.

I kind of figured as much.....and I dont make it a habit going into ports in general...but when I saw the convoy go in...I thought I would go in and create a little havoc......but you are right....a good way to get snuffed....Rick

Get yourself a patrol area in the Bermuda Triangle, you don't need to go anywhere near a harbour
