I've been using a new technique lately. A friend of mine who enjoys IL2 just as much as I do assigns me "missions", so to speak. That is, all of them consist of dogfighting as the British, but the main objective is to see how many sorties I can stay aloft before going down for good.

The scenario in this case was the RAF vs. the Luftwaffe over the ocean. I nabbed 4 as a Spitfire pilot before I had to go home. We lost 5 planes, the Germans lost 8. I nearly was shot down when a big puff of flak exploded on my right wing and forced me to head for home (lost the tip, but I managed to regain control of the bastard).

Here's the screenshot links. Below them is a caption describing the event pictured.

Burning and beaten BF-109. Pilot's chute failed.

Another BF-109 burns and bites the dust.

BF-109 goes down without a wing.

Close combat between fellow Spitfires and enemy 109's.

I had one of the best dogfights yesterday with an ACE Hurricane pilot on my BoB campaign. My 109E-4 was out of cannon ammo, so I had to stick very close to it to land good hits. At first the fight was going on at ~1000m, but slowly we dived to the deck to fight each other and the horrible winds below 300m.

I was all the time so close that the Hurricane was pretty much all over my windshield (3-5 meters) and landed some nice hits and the Hurricane started to smoke abit. As he lost some of his engine power, the fight turned very difficult as I had to keep the plane in the air at speeds of 180-210km/h, try to maneuver to a good spot to pepper him (at this moment I had used alot of ammo, so I think I was running out) and fight the wind.

After few minutes, we had taken the fight to under 20 meters and as a last resort, the Hurricane went to a climb at a speed of not more than 210km/h, I followed, we both lost the power at the same time and went into a dive. We were literally racing to get power, he was flying few meters to my left, like in a formation or something. Anyway, the fecka could pull up ~1,5 meters before the ground, I on the other hand pulled up maybe 30cm from the ground and lost my engine; pilot captured. :nope:

I hope so, I have some unfinished business with him. ;)
