A question(s) about OLC GUI/Scope Zoom/RL.

I am thinking about using the OLC GUI but during a breif scan through the tutorial video. The stutorial refers to using a x6 Zoom. in the attack periscope, In GWX the scope zooms to x10, which I like. Does OLC use the x6 scope or the x10 scope (and if the x10 are the appropiate corrections made).

ALso, in Real Life how was the data for an attack gathered? I currently get the target speed by either using the 3:15 rule or the nomograph (I do have map updates on), I then use a printed wheel the calculate the AOB, i often don't bother with the range.

olc gui uses 6x for attack scope and 6x for observation scope, but since obs. scope in olc is larger, it is closer to 10x.

In RL speed was determined by method explained in olc gui turorial, by estimate, by stalking the ship and matching speed etc.

Correct... but also, IRL, speed was more often measured by plotting target's course over time (like, a day) and just dividing the distance travelled by the time taken... which you can also do in the OLC GUI by using the nomograph and/or the speed charts (both of which I stole - I'm not credit-grabbing!).
