hello honourable brethren ( this is me fluttering the eyelashes). this isn't strictly speaking to do with subs or gallivanting around on the briny - but I thought some of you might know...
me being a bit of a computer-wallah ( like I fix em for people), I like to keep my own system in tidy order, so keep a weather eye on 'Events' and such-like.
Well. recently as Starforce protection is no longer required by SH3 OR the X-series space game I play, I decided to get rid of it if I could. No uninstaller of course, so rather than just hack everything out of the registry that might pertain, which seemed a bit too drastic because it might turn out to be a bad move, I renamed those files that I found in the system folder. I must have missed some because Event tells me about eight files which are supposed to load at system startup are not doing so ( 'cos I renamed them perhaps) - and that tells me that something else is still active. I couldn't see anything active as a process in Process Explorer so wonder how I can find out what it is OR if anyone might know of a cleanup utility which will take all Starforce files out cleanly. I do have CleanUp! on here but I don't think that will mess with system files. Can you help please?
