This is the stuff currently residing on my HD, of course, after 20 years of flight simming, you have used and played a lot more than just this.

The military stuff I play extremely rarely nowadays, in the past months I used FS9 with compley aircraft addons excessively and exclusively, beside SBP. There are absolutley superb aircraft packages available for FS9, with hundreds of pages of manuals :D .

But I currently got hooked by Condor, which I consider now to be the best flight sim on the market in several regards. It's a shame that it is almost unknown to the wide public. I wanted to chnage that a little bit, so watch out for my review-like introduction to it, coming shortly. ;) If you take both "flight" and "simulation" in "flight simulation" serious, it beats all the competition hands down and with closed eyes.

First off I thank you all for your replys.

Skybird I wait anxiously for your review on Condor with screen shots. :yep:

CCIP You also did the FIRST and IMHO the best mod for SH4:
The keymap mod. What was UBI thinking ? :damn:

I have : JANES WWII Fighters

All the IL2 series up to and include 1946
Got "46" to play online with you guys but,
You guys kinda scare me from reading your posts
and screen shots :rotfl:

LOMAC: Kinda boring

ACES HIGH II: When I got into computers in 2004
I found this on a google. It was free and I got my firs
taste of flight simming. :D It was love at first sight.

I immediatly ran out to game store and got a Saitek
ST90 stick. I know. Not much better than an early
ATARI joystick. :rotfl:

But hey I only had a $10.00 investment includeing
game. :D

Alot has changed since then. Have X52 with rudder
pedals.
Am seriously looking at Saitek yoke with 4 throttles
and flap levers and gauges.

As to future FS purchases I am interested in the
CFS series that most of you seem to have.

I like that OFF mod for WWI fighters where you fly by the seat of your pants with no landing gear or flaps to worry about. Just go in GUNS ABLAZEING. :D

Now thats flying IMHO. :D

I'm also looking forward to SKYBIRD's review on Condor.

You all have listed alot of FS that I'm going to have to spend the better part of today Googleing. :damn: :D

These are by MICROPOSE and in mint condition and only paid $5.00 includeing shipping each.

I've never played them. Just to add to collection.

You've got my curiousity on JET Any screen shots ?

You've got my curiousity on JET Any screen shots ?Man! You don't know what the first F-16/F-18 sim looked like? I'm appalled! This was hot stuff when it first came out and I got my hands on it. Managed to get an actual IBM AT (fast computer in its day) to play this thing on! I loved it! I could spend hours trying to go Mach 2! This is back in 1984 or there abouts.

Give me a minute. I'll find a screenshot. I'd load it up, but I don't think I have a 5.25" floppy drive around here. I might, but its probably in storage at the bottom of some big computer parts box!

LOMAC: Kinda boring
Not sure about boring, but I have to admit - tried to get into it 3 times now and just didn't manage to. It didn't grab me. I learned to fly a couple of the planes and then gave up, usually for technical reasons more than anything (couldn't get my previous machines to run the game well). I still plan to give it another go sometime.

And I'm probably going to grab an old copy of CFS3 sometime soon just for OFF.

Ummm Where's the plane ? :-?You're flying it - that is cockpit view, with the HUD on the sides and bottom of the screen.

Yeah - now days that looks like a stripped down way to slew your position, but in those days, that is all you got and that was hot stuff! :D  Imagine a world without an F-16 simulator, and you would have sunk your claws into this too!

Look - you even have a solid object on screen - the hanger! Hahahaha!

The aircraft you shot at were only wireframes too!

Flight models were kind of pathetic as well, but what do you expect for like 1984??? Compare this to an Atari 2600 game, and I think I will make my point. These graphics were hot hot hot!!!

Pretty sure I've got a copy of Longbow 2 kicking around as well but I haven't played it in years. Mind you, I've been playing flight sims since the early 80's - kinda wish I'd kept those old museum pieces around for nostalgias sake! I keep meaning to try out those Wings over Vietnam / Israel titles as well.

Hi, Blacklight!

Could you tell me more about Orbiter & Space Shuttle Mission 2007? I've not heard about these ones before (is is US market only?)

All the other flight sims I have played and owned previously (if you include the original Sublogic Flight Sim ! ;) Those were the days .... you needed a 16K Rom Pack, and load up the software off a cassette, and have two or three cups of tea (or whatever) in between. If you were in luck and the tape loaded after 20 minutes of thus waiting in anticipatioon then you could have tones of fun flying...... only I used to remember the screen updates took just as long ha ha ha .

Now that is history!

Besides this point, the only Shuttle Lander Sim I tried was a demo released with a cover disj in the 90's. It had 'authentic' flight model, sported real pilot and control voice and was kind of cool. Lost track of the real Software title tho'

I am up for any offers for any F4 Falcon Pilots out there wanting to adopt a new recruit?! :yeah: .... or anyone wantinig a wing man for basic flight manuovers and watnots?! :03:

Best wishes for 2010 to everyone!

Wow!!! It's been a long time since I started this thread.

I have bought alot more flight sims and more sophisticated flight controllers since then.

I haven't bought any Helio sims YET ! :03:

I'm not worth a damn flying those things.

Even with my G940 controllers. :damn: :haha:

Soon Rof will be in my hanger if they do as promised.

I've lately been playing around with Mig Alley.

Anybody have it ?

Lionclaw
02-19-10, 02:21 PM
Yes, I have it. Unfortunately I haven't gotten into it. Same with Battle of Britain II.

I'm too used to IL-2 1946...

Enemy Engaged: Apache vs Havoc

USAF doesn't belong on the list since I threw away the disc a few years ago.

Battle of Britain II

I've been playing around with Mig Alley today.

It's not that bad by even todays standards.

Alot of key commands I have to get programed into my controllers.

This old sim even has FF. My Logitec G940 takes advantage of it.

Its a good Sim, EXTREMLY complicated, but good... It simulates just about every button in the chopper... and most of its systems nicely...
It is really demanding on your system tho...

It has a very mild DRM... It dosent install on your pc, the game just checks in once a week if I remember it... In no way is it that UBI BS.

(please note I have the download version, dont know about the CD.)

Honestly, I havent even knoticed the DRM, Probably wouldnt even know about it if someone hadnt told me...

Once you figure the game out, It is quite pleasing watching an enemy truck explodeing on the Targeting computers scren.
