just picked up a copy of SH3 and getting started.

found this site with all the mods.

have patched up to 1.4

question is with alot of the mods here, there is no reference to what specific folder they go to, like the gramophone update, did that one, it told me which folder to mod to.

But with the ones that do not specify where they go in the SH3 directory, what do I do?

am I missing something I need to do here?

wonderful game, just need some help here

thanks

Get JSGME (JoneSoft Generic Mod Enabler). Just look for any post by JScones; the link is at the bottom of his sig.

It lets you load and unload mods quickly and easily, and it puts them in their proper place.

If not, when you download a mod look to see if it has a 'Data' folder. If so, it will direct itself to the proper folder. If not, the readme should tell you. If no readme, then...well, then it gets tricky.

Forget all the mods and download/install GWX 2.0. Encompasses most everything you'll want and then some. Plus their HUGE manual tops everything out there and tells you everything you'll need to know to set sail.

Just my nickels worth..

Welcome aboard tracker53.

I seldom install anything that is not JSGME compatible unless I am confident of the source. Even then, I backup the folder I'm going to add the info to beforehand.

I could be accused of double standards here because I recently released 5 links to downloads to gramaphone tunes.......but hell, I trusted the source

1. Get the GWX mod.. forget about getting the JSGME (JoneSoft Generic Mod Enabler) as it's included in GWX.

You also want the Torpedo Damage Final mod as well. You can get it here. It makes realistic damage on ships !

You don't want to leave port without it. Also, you need Silent Hunter III Commander so you can use the GWX milk cows properly and you can also use it to alter game settings far and beyond the options the game itself gives you.

http://www.users.on.net/~jscones/software/products.html
(Make sure to follow the instructions in the GWX manual for using it with Silent Hunter III Commander.)
Happy hunting !

Welcome:rock::rock::rock:
As Blacklight said,
All you need is SH3CMDR and GWX2.0 for now.
If you like music dl Jimbuna's gramophone mods and follow the instructions. (Actually, just install them into your ubisoft\SHIII\Sound\ gramophone folder and enjoy!!
If you have a girl friend, tell her you will be busy for a few months.:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

If you are just starting with SH3, I would recommend you play a little stock for a while to get a feel for it. You can also browse the forums a little more and learn from all of the 'old salts' that are around. Once you have had enough...you can start getting the mods you want to use...or even build your own should you be so inclined...

:hmm:
