Coming back from my first ever patrol - 17k tons, not the best but im happy with my first mission - very low on fuel after trying to get to AM54 round the top of UK and heading back to Kiel thru the Channel - made it to 28km short of Heligoland and ran out of fuel - pressed escape thinking i would be able to refuel at Heligo and chose return to base - magically appeared in Kiel (350km away) with a load of medals and and promotions to give out - what happened.

BTW, i have a list of qualifications to choose from, is Radio the one for my Sonar man because i cant see one that says Sonar or Sound?

My next mission is the same patrol grid, which i dont actually mind but does this change - its the 19/9/39

When you hit escape like that away from base and hit return to base, that is where you end up. Only problem is you get no renown for this. You have to be at least 25 km from base to get it.

Yes Radio is for sonar also.

Your patrol grid will change with time. Sort of random unless you have Commander installed where you can actually assign one to yourself.

For the patrol, but you do not get the extra renown for returning to base (30-25km out from it, or manually docking) I think it's only 100 points.

Yes, the radio qual improves both positions in that compartment.

We noticed it while building GWX 2
Thought it was of our making so tried it in GWX 1.03 then rolled all the way back to stock to find it didnt work there either

Didnt go as far as trying stock 1.0 \ 1.1 etc as didnt work in 1.4
Wonder if ever did :damn:
I know the 1.4 patch " broke " the land units camera views
Earlier patches may have disabled that renown for sailing home too
