Just had this hit me a moment ago. Made me go "Hmmmmm,". How is it that your watchtower can be complete cheese, yet the UZO is always functional? I can't ever recall it being unuseable. You'd think, considering it's pedestal-mounted out there in the open that anything that trashed the watchtower badly would also take out that, too. Granted, while the UZO optics themselves were stored below when not used the pedestal mounting was still in the open and vulverable, yes?
Anyway, just a 'hmmmmm' moment I guess.

Good question. Maybe they're assuming that if you're fired on the first thing the 1WO does is unseat the thing and rush it below.
Or maybe they just screwed up.:rotfl:

I'm sure they do unseat and take below the optics. But the optics aren't much good, after all, if the pedestal mount for it has been twisted into pasta.

*sigh* Don't you know that they made those Uzo's and their mounts out of Adamantium ?:D

i thought i heard a real life report somewhere of a U-boat which had its conning tower more or less destroyed in a depth charge attack... the persistant captain and crew proceeded to fashion a UZO pedistal out of a mop/broom handle and then they rigged it to what was left of the conning tower... IIRC they even successfully used this makeshift UZO mount in at least one attack.
