I currently use Instant Memory cleaner. Try ZDnet.co.uk and look for memory defrag programs.

I use FSautostart and have for a couple of years. I have not had a bit of trouble with it, although some report some problems.

I've used FSAutostart for a decade with 3 different operating systems and never had any problems.

I used FSautostart over a year ago had a serious problem that required reformating my disk drive. FSautostart came out a number of years ago when Flight Simulator was released. The idea behind FSautostart was that one could turn off unneccessary programs that ran in the background and thus save memory that Flight Simulator needed. The memory defrag was only a small part of FSautistart, not the main feature. I've heard that others have had similar problems with FSautostart!

That said, you would be most pleased with a program called WinCleaner Memory Optimizer, which is a free download. It cleans, boosts and defrags memory, and runs in the background all the time. I've used it for about a year with no problems.

I was getting intermittent Crashes to Blue Screen when exiting from SH3. These were ultimately due to my laptop's video card sharing memory. When I installed WinCleaner (which has a graph of memory usage) I found out prior to exiting SH3 that occasionally the usable memory was about zero, nothing, notta and on these intermittent occasions is when I'd have a crash. So, therefore, prior to exiting SH3 from its main screen, I go to WinCleaner and manually clean, boost and defrag memory. You can visually see this on the graph. Then I go back to SH3 main page and exit normally. I've not had a crash since I've been dong this!

One note: I run WinCleaner all the time and have it set to Auto Optimize every 15 minutes (this is adjustable in 5-minute increments). However, when I'm playing SH3, I go to the WinCleaner Confuguration page and turn off Auto Optimize and Free Ram on Alarm Level. These will adversely affect game play as they operate in the background. If you feel you need to clean and boost memory during game play, I'd suggest pausing SH3, Alt+Tab to bring up WinCleaner to manually clean and boost memory. And then minimize WinCleaner and Alt+Tab back to SH3 to resume play.

I hope this is helpful.
