I am still trying to live though to the end of 1939.:rotfl: But, does the T-5 torpedo work like in real life? Is it a good homing torpedo? Does it follow the target? I hppe to use it in 1943. And I'm reading "Iron Coffins" by Herbert A. Werner and he's been talking about the upgrade.

Thanks

The T V is 4knots faster than the T IV and should only be used against targets travelling at 12 knots or above.
It is advisable to go deep after firing and set silent running or stop your electric motors before it travels the 400 metres it needs to arm itself.
In RL they were not all that effective, but in game they can be deadly http://www.psionguild.org/forums/images/smilies/wolfsmilies/pirate.gif

Used with magnetic arming , they are quite handy when a DD is bearing down on you :yep:

I load the aft tubes with nothing but...when being chased they come in quite handy...

Just a little question on the side... sorry for the hijacking.

But what was the typical amount of acoustic torpedos each U-Boat was allowed to carry in the later war years?

Hey,
I havent got far enough in my GWX2.0 career to get the upgrade T5, but in my first GWX1.03 career I got pretty good results with them.
First load them in your stern section. I use the type VII submarine so you only get three back there.
When you are attacking a convoy, fire your forward torpedos at prime targets, then make course opposite the direction of the convoys course, preferably between shipping columns. Then wait until another ship passes by and shoot at his propellor with the stern acoustic torpedo.
Not sure about GWX2.0, but in GWX1.03 a stern shot will usually sink a ship as big as a whale factory ship even a troop transport.
I use them that way unless I'm completely out of ideas and being pounced upon by a DD.
