Does this happen to anyone else??? I save a patrol as part of a career. I turn off the sim and go do something else (like work sometimes). When I next get that subbie itch, I run FSAuto, boot SHIII, go to saved career, load it and all is well. EXCEPT after the loading screens, as the control room gfx comes up, there's a crash, a bang, the sound of flooding, lights flicker and I incurr hull damage (usually), and then it's back to the saved game, but with extra damage. I can live with a few spurious noises, but this is affecting my career. I get damage where there was no damage before. Is this the price you pay for not seeing the partol out in one go or is it a bug? Shome mishtake shurely.

My betters can probably explain easier.:D

BTW Welcome Aboard if you haven't been already

Please tell me you donated to SUBSIM to get that AVATAR.:yep:

Or is NEAL getting nasty in his old age. :rotfl:

Well, the sim does apply any damage you incurred earlier all in one go when you load up a save, which can be kinda distressing, but if, as you say, you hadn't been damaged at all before saving I couldn't tell you why that happened

however, if you even had so much as 1% hull damage the whole glass shattering, noise, lights flashing etc. etc. is standard procedure I'm afraid...

Thanks Cranky. OK fine, I might have been a bit careless earlier in the patrol so I guess that explains it. One hates to admit one's mistakes. It's just a bit of a shock is all. I guess I was expecting some text saying something like ' you screwed up earlier - take that!' Not a problem now I know what's going on though (hangs head in shame for miscalculating depth, being over enthusiastic in a surface attack etc).

@firewall: The avatar? Yep I made a small contribution, would have liked to have given more but have a joint account with the wife so I have to be prudent. Got to put something back though for all this fun. Anyway, Neal's still sane and doing what he has to do, bless him. I did have second thoughts after I gave him the avatar. It's all a bit camp - small boy - bosun's best mate etc, it seemed funny at the time though and I'm sure I can live with it. Echoes of the Black Pig etc.

OK back to Hitler's U-Boat War pt 1 (thanks Penelope) and a 1xTC patrol. (yeah, honest guv).

Happy hunting all.

@firewall. Thanks for the welcome. I did sign on 12 months ago but it's taken me that long to get the damn sim working. It kept falling over after 10 mins. Turns out I has a sub (ha ha) standard graphics card. The problem turned out to be one of short arms and deep pockets. Now, alles klat.

The reason I asked Knipper is a member said he was sending Neal some new avatars and if you've seen some of the ones we have already have you know then why I asked.

I hope one of our great members had a answer to your question.

Have a good patrol and sink them all.

Same thing happens to me. I am currently still playing gwx 1.03. I make sure I am surfaced when i save, then when I log back on I hear glass shattering and it sounds like I'm under attack or something. The red light always seems to come on 1st.. whether its nite or daylight at the time of my save. I dont receive any hull damage though. I guess I have been lucky:huh:

Same Here, best advice is to 'save' on the surface. Can be a bit annoying if you are being hunted by DD's I was recently silent running at 150m for hours, I was running out of air and all my crew were getting fatigued, I had to wait until the DD used up her DC's, quickly surface and sink her with a snap shot. Wife wasn't happy didn't get to bed until 4am:nope:

 @ roaringdisaster - that was your excuse anywayz. My wife complained the other day about my late night subsiming. I told her that at least I wasn't out there in the atlantic somewhere doing it for real. to which she replied 'Might as well be for all I see of you...' Some people are never happy...

Wait till you've been out on patrol for a couple of months without having a shower or a shave and see what she thinks then http://www.psionguild.org/forums/images/smilies/wolfsmilies/whistle.gif

I would pay good money to see the judge's reaction at divorce court when he reads in the plaintiff's petition the reason for divorce being:

"Spouse's commitment to the Kreigsmarine's U-bootwaffe keeps him out to sea sinking British merchant shipping for protracted periods of time." :rotfl:

I always get the "redlight command room" scare whenever I load a saved patrol. The boat rocks and the lights flicker out with the sound of glass shattering. After that, everything is normal and no damage to my u-boat.

Go figure.
