This one takes the cake. It messes with my mind. There's no action, and never anything chasing you, or danger of death, but damn, this game makes it feel like it. There are eerie pieces of music as you descend into an old well, that is mentioned in notes and papers on the second floor. Only, this is no ordinary well. Oh no. This is the theres-something-down-there-with-me deal.

Seriously, try out the demo.

I'm definitely going to check this out, soon as I am finished with "Sherlock Holmes - The Awakened"

This is the scariest game I have played by far :

If I play the music in winamp, without even touching the game, it still gives me creeps.

Not only because it's scary, also because it's depressive.

Am I right that this is a game in the style of the old Mindscape titles like "Uninvited" and "Deja Vu"? i would like to see a game where i need to logically deduce to solve meaningful puzzles. What bores me are puzzles that are wokring by trial-and-error, and have neither logic nor meaning.

Agreed. Fahrenheit is another good one, quite similar to Cthulhu.

Wasn't the scariest but one i'll never forget is 'Call of Cluthuha' (sp). It also made me get motion sickness:o

Yeah, one of the two really good cross-platform games ever made. (In addition to Fahrenheit, which has the greatest story ever)

I must have nerves of steel, because neither "The Awakened" nor "Call of Cthulu" truly frightened me. Although, I will admit that when I found the butcher's knife in that woman's heart on the desk in the hotel, I cringed harder than I ever have in my life....and I got into a crash nearly flipped my car a few weeks ago .

Now...READING H.P. Lovecraft at about 3 in the morning in a dimly lit corner of my house was pretty creepy.

Now, S.T.A.L.K.E.R. modded with the ABC inferno pack really troubles me...in a good way that is. I want to find a truly horrifying game, but...I just got a Honda Passport (as a result of that aforementioned crash) and although not a gas guzzler, I'm used to my old four-cylinder Saturn SC2 that got 38 mpg...so I'm hurting in the money field (hey, I'm only a 17 year old cashier at a wal-mart...).

Recently purchased this game. My word, is this a thinker! I'm still in the Gallery and have to confess that I used a guide once (Who doesn't know the Battle Of Trafalgar depicts boats/ships . Suppose it serves me right for trying to be too clever)

What a wonderful game with plently of head scratching!

have to say the one game that has given me the most creeps is F.E.A.R and I've played quite a few games. Was totally un-expected from a FPS game. The story, the ambience(Sp),the lighting, the mood all made that game wonderfully dark and twisted.

It's not a game, but this film made me shriek in terror, and I was committed to an insane asylum for three months after being exposed to it for three seconds.

Four best girlfriends hatch a plan to stay connected with one another as their lives start off in different directions: they pass around a pair of secondhand jeans that fits each of their bodies perfectly.
