Imagine to play golf that way. ;)
Now this is something I'd like to see as the new breaktrough of gaming in the future! :o

This doesn't just affect subsims...it affects FSP's, sims, etc...etc.

This could take gameing to another level in the near future huh ?:hmm:

A step closer to making games feel like you are in there. Ok, next on the list: pig blood spraying from the side of your monitor! ..ok, maybe not... :hmm:

True...there is the TrackIR, but this post shows the potential of 3d instead of 2d.

Well, the TrackIR offers 6DOF already...

Look how far video games have come in just the past 10 years. Just imagine what we'll be seeing 20 years from now.
And honestly, with all the advances in graphics and processing power, irconically, I still pretty much enjoy the old coin operated games like Pac Man, or Galaga. Also, give me an Atari 2600 with a bunch of cartridges or a Commadore 64 with a bunch of floppies (or tape cassettes) and I can be entertained for MONTHS on end !
Wow...that was awesome.

Here, Here Blacklight! Nothing like nostalgia. On that note, there is a local gaming shop that has the following systems.
Atari 2600 with paddles and joysticks, plus 30 + games
Atari 7800 with 3 games
SNES with joystick and a ton of games
N64 with one controller

I hope that guy has patented his idea. It is truly awesome. As a tech journalist, over the last 25 years I've seen a lot of 'breakthroughs' but very few have made me think 'that could change everything', but that's what I thought when I saw that demo on UTube. And I'm not just talking about gaming. One of the things that impressed me was that he used stuff that is already available and simple. Ok the Wii is a complex bit of kit, but it's widely available, as are the safety glasses and IR leds. Mass production, something which often proves to be a stumbling block for new ideas, would not be a problem. One thing strikes me as a problem though, if you want to look at something that is 'behind' you, you'd have to turn your head away from the screen. :hmm:

Well, your heads' movements are amplified so only a small move is required to look behind you, and you can still look at the screen.

I agree the TrackerIR has been around for some time and works on the same principle.
Wouldn't it just need a 2nd unit sitting on the monitor.....spaced apart....to make it 3D? Or is it already technically the same?

The current implentation follows 3 points instead of just one, so that's how it goes 3D.

just simply OUTSTANDING.......going to take SH to a higher level someday......:up:

too bad we haven't found a real way to put this in SH, so far :(
To give you a pratical example, in Battle of Britain 2 - Wings Of Victory, I open the cockpit while on the runway and lean left to check the runway. Taildragger aircraft have big engines in front of the pilot and there's no way to see what's out there :D
Very very cool :)

I thought you already did that sunvalleyslim when you got drunk while playing SH and fell out of your chair and woke up on the floor one time. Didn't you?

:rotfl: @ geetrue & sunvalley. How wonderful it is to find I'm not alone in my embarassment. Thankfully i don't tend to get drunk and fall out of my chair too much. Mind you, last time I did, it was around 3.30am and I had the headphones on with the vol cranked up and was being DC'd at the time. I just managed to hit C before falling over backwards into unconciousness and in the process unplugged the phones from the speakers. The wife and son were woken up by 110db's of ALAAAAAARM!!!!! I seem to remember hearing them thundering down the stairs and thinking it was the crew clearing the tower, yelled at them to get forrard. It was about then that my wife hit me.... We still laugh about it. Well, actually, we don't. D'oh.... It's true, I kid you not.
