16kt Large Convoy

Grid EH59 - I get the report of a 16kt Large Enemy Convoy travelling east towards Dakar. I couldn't intercept. I'm left wondering - what the hell was in that convoy??

Sure it wasn't a task force? I got once got a report like that and luckily i was in their way about 3-4 hours away

Yepp, troops and fuel. For army stuff they always selected the fastest ships available. Subs had to have a lot of luck to stumble in front of this kind of convoys to actually gain something from it.

I wish i had caught her. At that speed, you really only get one shot - there's no real option to flank for another attack.

Probably some motorbikes, 4x4 cars and a load of support vehicles ;)

IIRC, some of the big ships (ex cruise liners) used to sail as troop ships on their own, depending on their speed to keep them safe.

Any convoy over 10 knots is probably auxiliaries and/or troopships. Also possibly a special resupply convoy of fast merchantmen like the "Pedestal" convoy to Malta.
