Lo fellow kaleuns
still running deep with gww2.0.....brilliant
as ive said before im a sucker for mods that add atmosphere...espacialy sound mods and the like....the difference of hearing your crew descend the coning tower when diving etc adds so mutch to the game.
also on my favorites is the incoming message thats picked up with your radioman...the sounds of historic almost morse for a few seconds before he announces "new message herr kaleun"
ONLY PROBLEM IS ITS DRIVING MY GIRLFRIEND INSANE IF SHES SLEEPING!!!
so ive noticed that if you press the right arrow key (above the alt gr key) your boat switches to external and cuts the sound immediately
just thought id let you guys know incase there is a murder on the horizon......me probably:rotfl:

Options:
1) Move the computer out of the bedroom. (Or move your girlfriend out of the computer room.)
2) Wear headphones.
3) Tell your gf to quit being such a weenie and stay awake. The advantage to this one is that any conceivable outcome keeps you from having to do #1 or #2.
Note: If you're staying up late playing submarine games and your gf isn't involved then you might be missing the point of having a gf.;)

If she still does whole the cooking, cleaning and other -ings, it's all right I think. :88)

My wife has no problem with Silent Hunter III and even encourages me to play it. What annoyed her was when I put GWX 2.0 on and now suddenly.. she's hearing..
"All ahead *insert speed here*" *RING !!!! RING !!!*
It grated on her nerves (and mine too after a while) so I took the sound file and edited it so you don't hear the ring anymore.

You're confusing a girlfriend with a maid.
The difference is that maids cost less and require almost no upkeep.

I'll go for no 1.....a bit late after 23 years of marriage though :damn:
The other choice -- figure out whom you want to toss out, the radioman or the GF

My wife calls it "sink 'em game" and rolls her eyes. I mostly play while she's on the couch 'watching' HGTV through her eyelids.
Last year we moved the computer desk from the bedroom to the dining room - right behind the couch. If she's sleeping on the couch while I'm playing behind her that's her problem. Sometimes I use headphones though just so I can hear more stuff without bothering anyone (or hearing the same episode of House Hunters for the 14th time).
Almost 23yrs here, too, Jimbuna.

When my wife complains about the noise I look at her with a straight face and say...
"yeah we do need to discuss the noise as a matter of fact... We are in the middle of a depth charge attack and we are rigged for silent running here... The rest of the crew and I would appreciate your silence."
She just stands there looking at me
"in serious, do you want to be responsible for tommy finding us?!"
Still looking at me she says "who's tommy?"
I respond "shhh I'm serious! I Weill not hesitate to launch you out of a torpedo tube as surface debris if you don't keep the noise down."

This is another one of those threads where GWX is responsible for all kinds of relationship problems isn't it???
There's been a few of those lately.
Now if I ever meet a girl who I overhear saying, "I think U-boats are sexy!"
We're getting married!:yep:
Till then I will keep flirting with nurses.
That being said, I kinda dread the question, "Well what do you like to do when you aren't working?"
I'll probably choke on that one a bit, because trying to explain my little adventures here... would prolly go over like a lead balloon.

"Well, erm....cough* I travel the oceans of the world, often confronting the greatest challenges mother nature can put before you in the form of the worst weather imaginable, and in the face of terrible adversity, I try to surmount the harshest odds seldom experienced by any mere mortal.
"So what exactly is it you do" ?
"Can I get you another drink" <grin>

Is there any mention of a SH3 marital liability clause in that GWX manual? :hmm:
Any pre-nuptual patrol mission disclaimers? :rotfl:
