Whoo-wee, what a cool film. I'm not going to post any spoilers but I will say, I enjoyed it mightily.

...Ok, this thread does contain spoilers.

I suggest stopping right here if you have any intention of seeing this film. It's much better to go in tabla rasa and enjoy events as they unfold onscreen.

I don't want to give too much away, I was very happy for once to sit down in the theater without having seen too much in the trailers. I think the movie is well worth $8 or whatever the ticket costs, it's a good experience.

I was dragged by my brother to see this thing on Friday. My experience was the opposite of Neal's.

Woo! It doesn't open here until the 1st of February, can't wait.

The film of Watchmen has been pushed back until 2009, so this has to tide me over till then :)

It looks really cool from what I've seen. Also heard about a possible sequel. Wouldn't surprise me, it earned about $17,920,000 on it's opening day.

SPOILER OF THE PLOT and a mini review.

It's been getting very good reviews. It was really good.
Apparently, a group of people go to New York to party with a friend of theirs the night a giant Godzilla or something like it attacks the city. One of them has a cam-corder and is video taping the party. The whole story is told through the cam-corder so it's basically Blair Witch meets Godzilla. This means that there's the typical cam-corder shaky camera work, but not as stomach churning seasickening as in the Bourn movies.
The FX are really good, and you genuinely care about the characters. This is a movie that I would be willing to see again.

Saw it last night.

Excellent movie. A bit short, could have been half an hour longer but a very unique experience. As cliched as it sounds, it was quite a rollercoaster of a movie.

Also seeing it in a cinema with great sound really makes a difference. Immerses you even further. As noted above, the only criticism I have was the filming of the whole movie with a jiggly hand-held camera. Kind of a cimemagraphic one-trick pony. Not good for the motion-sickness prone crowd either.

I've been monitoring this one for a while, since the first trailer for it came out in fact. Quite interested, looks like the kind of film I'd like, and the approval from Die Onkel has sealed it.

Now hurry up and release it in the UK!!! :arrgh!:

Thanks, that's very nice of you to say that. I really enjoy apocalyptic movies of this type, where all hell's breaking loose and none of the rules of society apply. Throw in giant freaky monsters and people in peril, I'm there.:yep:
