I went to best buy today and treated myself to a Saitek Eclipse II illuminated USB keyboard.
I highly recommend it to all users of SH3/SH4. The keys are smooth quiet and there is a backlighting option to switch between red, blue and purple lights... also there is a dimmer reostat for increasing and decreasing the brightness.
Night attacks just got a lot easier!

Naw I like my logitech G15 V1 keyboard. Its one of the best built keyboard I've had in years. Trust me, mine survive my multiple accidents when I'm spilling beer or cokacola on it by being hunted and doing fast action key clicking during dept charges.:88) :damn: :nope: You would figure I would learn not to put my drinks near the keyboard. I can't shake my bad habits.:smug: Need my beer close!:arrgh!:

@ Wolfehunter, I'm with you all the way, it took me ages to track down a new G15 v1 with the blue keys, didn't like the orange keys, & it's great, the next best thing is the LCD Sireal App! and both correct with one thing, lit keys is a must for night attacks!

The best think about the G15 is being able to group a lot of essential SH3 keys close together for when they are needed. For example, I have my sonar report functions group and two rows.

Looks nice. Still, there is nothing, absolutely nothing that would make me abandon my Hackbrett. Over 20 years old and I am positive that no better keyboard will ever be manufactured...

Now iīm home.
Tested it out with some real patrolling.
It has some really nice backlighting. Purple, red or blue.
My vote goes to the red light. Very pleasent feeling for the eyes.
Nice feeling all over. Buttons and such.
Itīs a little heavy.....wich is good. That means itīs expensive..:)
Iīm pleased with this buy and can recommend it for anyone who wants some
backlighting under their buttons.

FIRST best coolest keyboard I ever owned was my IBM PCjr wireless keyboard. It used IR to work with a few batteries. Playing SpaceQuest I or Zork back in those days was a wonder. I hated the AT keyboard huge and bulky. With my wireless keyboard I could site back and go crazy:doh: :rotfl:

God those day where great.... Dos, Config and Autoexec files, bootup floppy disks. and 30m hardrives, 256k's of ram, with 4 to 16 colour graphics and 4bit sound card.

Yeah those were the times *sigh*Hey was that written in basic?
snwcrsh

No, I would guess in Assembler for the most part. It may look like Basic but that might be due to the 320x200 resolution and 16 colors of the C-64 :-)

C-64 had all the cool stuff. Wish I coulda had one.
On topic: I still use real IBM keyboards, because nobody has managed to match the feel and durability yet. I keep an eye out for them at every flea market and thrift shop.
So what are you guys doing - playing in the dark?

As for C-64, there is CCS: http://www.computerbrains.com/ccs64/. And literally any game you look for can be found here: http://www.thegamearchives.com/
CCS works like a charme on any current PC. With a Competition Pro USB Joystick it's very very close to the real thing (just your TFT is probably better than a tv screen)
As for original IBM keyboards, sometimes they are available on ebay like this one:

Also I know some guys who frequently sell them -- if you want a contact, PM me.

Here in Sweden this time of year itīs pretty much dark 24-7.
Specially now when itīs only raining when it should be snowing.
Besides that I usually play late hours and having a backlit keyboard helps a lot.

I'm still using my old Keytronic keyboard I got in 1997. Its survived 10 moves, 2 degrees, and lots of chat rooms!

Yea, i have a few of those here as backup pieces... as they always work and last forever. Only thing is the annoying key clicking. Currently i'm using another IBM keyboard which is ps/2
http://www.zoooz.com/keyboard/giventake/pdsfile/7953-1.jpg
as my "mini" full size black USB bit the dust awhile back and i have yet to find another one at a decent price

I'm hard on them as i tend to beat on them at times while playing COD4 or other frustrating online shooters. :damn:
Tool.

my damn stock microsoft keyboard has the habit of getting me to fire torpedoes when i mean to up the TC.... however believe this or not (your choice) while conducting a night attack, i tried to put up the TC, low and behold the damn thing fired an eel... massive swearing ensued and then after 1:34 minutes KABOOM!!!! TORPEDO HIT HERR KALEUN!!! :o
my jaw hit the floor and i nearly pissed myself.

I love this noise! (My co-workers used to hate it though). Another advantage is that you can slam that thing over one's head and it will not break \o/
