I like to contribute to the SH4 Community, in some small way, whenever I can....
...Here's something which I think the Old Salts (Born in the 40's) might appreciate. You youngsters also...if you can possibly overlook the bad acting from TV in the 1950's.....
This one is especially for those of you familiar with the USS Sea Lion story.....
Here is the short "Intro" version.... http://files.filefront.com/MiniTrailerIntroSeaLionwmv/;9455543;/fileinfo.html
....and, if you are interested in seeing/hearing the whole story, here you can see and/or download the Full Episode/Show/Video: http://files.filefront.com/SilentServiceSeaLionFinalVwmv/;9455325;/fileinfo.html
[Sorry I messed up the Aspect Ratio....I stretched out 1950 TV into 21st Century Widescreen.....Dumb!]

I had added the USS-Sealion aspect in my first custom mission during the Japanese air raid on Cavite Naval Base. Nice link.

John Clear of usssealion.com has 18 episodes available. 70+ were produced in the series run.

Unfortunately, rights are still up in the air for the complete original series. So it may be awhile before we ever see this series on the DVD market. :damn:

Here's another episode.

Visual quality is very poor, but a good story. I'm sure many of the SH4 community members, especially the "senior" submariners, will recognize Gunsmoke's Chester (Dennis Weaver) in this episode...
One thing I note/like about these shows is that they seem Very authentic in terms of terminology and sub procedures...My guess is that they had more than a few WWII vets/submariners as tech advisors. Movies made more recently, say in the past decade (few and far between), have not faired so well in this respect.
Also, the stories don't seem to have been "Hollywood-ized"/glamourized....they seem to stick to the basic facts of each patrol's story.

This is great
Thanks 4 sharing!
I have all 18 on VHS from John Clear. He took some significant heat from NBC with a cease and desist order for his sales, but is still distributing for donations. They vary in quality but are all watchable (you just want to get up and adjust the rabbit ears:lol: ). Some interesting actors including Dennis Weaver and DeForest Kelly

The Batfish museum has the Batfish episode, and it has great quality on vhs. These shows were in my opinion, the most accurately portrayed sub shows. It appears as though they filmed them on actual subs.

Just watched the second one, and I noticed one funny glitch: when the two subs are observing the Japanese fleet near the beginning, you see a periscope view...looking down the deck of a carrier!:rotfl:
All in all, just as good as I remember them. And I say, if NBC is upset over somebody distributing these, when are THEY going to release them?:x

Here is another Silent Service episode...(Once again, visual quality is poor). I've seen a number of threads on the Forums in which some SH4 captains have expressed frustration over long patrols with little 'action' occurring...finding it difficult or impossible to find target ships/convoys. Some have questioned the accuracy/realism of some of the campaign Mods, such as RSRDC.
This episode is especially for them:

P.S. DeForest Kelley (Doctor "Bones" McCoy of Star Trek Fame) stars in this episode.
