Hello gents, hope all is well with everyone. My question is 2 fold, first, what do most of you round off the number to when pinging for distance to target, because there seems like there is quite a jump in numbers when you ping. For example in werners excellent sonar video he pings his long range target and the first distance given is 4,830yrds then 5,460, 5,360 then 5,060. He rounds it to 5,000 yrds. Do most round it off most of the time or do you try to measure exactly the distance given to plot course of target. My second question is if you un-check sonar in the options area does the sonar perfom with more exact readings, is there a difference with this un-checked compared to checked. Could some of you tell me what you like to do with this situation of different sonar error distances, thanks all.

I just get the average over three pings. It attempts to simulate water density, etc. so there will not be an exact distance reading. At least this is how it looks. I do not depend on the ping as much as my other tools. I view it as secondary.

Not sure what you mean by unchecked box for sonar.

Sorry warhawk, the sonar box in the options, i forget exactly what it says, in the options were no map caontacts, fuel, manual targeting, etc is.
