Can't properly customize options in career

I select "normal" for a career and notice that the computer does the targeting. How can I pick just that and leave all the other options unchecked? I don't want to worry about realistic repair times, etc. I can cutomize the options in the quick patrol and shorter missions, but why not in career mode?

then open the file called gameplay settings UPC
(Use a text editor like notepad or wordpad)

then make the settings yourself

Just set true or false as you like it on setting one.
and then pick setting one in game.
if you want to use say your freecamera and dont think
that taking pictures should affect your realism you can
find settings to redistribute the weight of realism on the
settings down at the bottom of the same file.
