I find this absurd.
http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/americas/7180379.stm
Sueing a drug dealer selling illegal drugs in the present while having demonstrated for three years that one willingly started to consume illegal drugs? She is sueing him not for what was three years ago, but an event in the present.
another illustration how very much confused our standards of justice and ever-growing and ever-supplemented laws have become. Having had bad experiences with laws myself, I do not trust legal proceedings anymore, and never take it as granted to get justice even when all evidence is in my favour.
The world is going mad day by day.

Two wrongs don't make a right.
The state should fine them both the same amount, £25,000 as a deterrent to everyone.

Makes you wonder as our Health system is now well below Poland's.
As for Labour's promise of seeing your GP in three days and no latter than a week what a load of B:ping: :ping: :ping: :ping: :ping: ks, I rang up today and was told there was a slot in five weeks time. I was advised if your condition gets any worst consult the NHS phone line which is also a load of B:ping: :ping: :ping: :ping: :ping: ks and I know that for a fact. Months ago my farther was in a lot of pain and rung them. As the night went on with there BS he was getting worst then in the end a ambulance turn up. The advice given by the doctor at the hospital was, don't wast your time ringing the NHS help line it's rubbish, ring 999 instead. BTW, he's alright now.
OK, back on the subject. I am fed up with the weak laws in this country which pander to drug addicts, no one forced them to take drugs. And the dealers are profiting from these idiots who take drugs. There are times I feel like rounding them up and shooting them but in the cold light of day will it stop the dealers and users, the answer as we all know is no.

Yep, those kerazy goddamn liberal drug laws that put heroin addicts in jail, put their kids into care, and prevent them from getting jobs even after recovery.
Being as polite as I can, my guess is that you've no idea what the laws are, and never had any experience of what addiction does. It is usually so with the loudest and most vociferous opinions. I spent three years doing voluntary work for a sexual health and stimulant abuse clinic and for an organisation that gives advice and assistance to opiate addicts and their families. In one induction we took a couple of (non-drug using) potential volunteers out in the city centre and asked them to discreetly point out people they thought were heroin addicts. Most of the folk they noted were actually known to us as alcoholics, real gutter cases. I'm afraid it's a myth that you can tell a junky on sight, except the worst and most obvious cases (who, of course, provide the basis for a stereotype).
Fact is, addiction is a medical problem and a private matter. Until 1971 this was accepted fact - drug addiction was dealt with by GPs without state interference. Sadly, the US once again put the squeeze on and dragooned Britain into the UN Convention On Psychotropic Substances - the White House does like the UN sometimes...particularly when doing its bidding - resulting in the Misuse of Drugs Act 1971 and the extension of the "War on Drugs" into Europe. Heroin use in the UK went from a minor activity largely restricted to prostitutes and their pimps, small time criminals, bohemians/intellectuals and those on the fringes of society to a bona fide epidemic that, cruelly, particularly ravaged those communities suffering from the effects of the 70s recession and Thatcher's denuding of British heavy industry. That, in a nutshell, is how we got where we are today.
I wonder why you don't scream for the heads of alcoholics, who outnumber addicts of illegal drugs by millions? Do you think that every penny spent on treating addiction somehow steals the artificial hip out of some poor shuffling grandmother? It doesn't work like that.
The other day I read that something like 70% of Britons claim to be Christian. What balls. I can't think of a less charitable, forgiving and understanding society that ours. Thatcher and Blair take much credit for this. 15 years ago, single mothers were the target of similar abuse - the Daily Mail, the paper that backed Moseley, calling for their children to be "cared" for in convents and that sort of crap, where presumably the nuns would batter them into respectability if recollections of the 1950s are anything to go by. A few decades prior, homosexuals were subject to imprisonment, fines and legitimised degradation. My point is this: the finger of blind hatred and suspicion is ever-moving - always directed by the media and authorities of the day - at convenient and constantly-changing scapegoats. The only requirement is that the public be ignorant of those in question, and that those targeted have no legitimate recourse in either law or protest. Those who are trained to hate on command by the tabloid press and TV are the real scum, in my opinion.
If someone murdered or raped, say, a female friend or one of my sisters, I'd want to kill them. No question. However, saying that you'd like to shoot people who have done no harm to you, that you know nothing about, that you've never even met, well...I can't even imagine how a moral and decent person could think like that.

By the way, if someone fancies doing a Zapruder on Pete Doherty or Amy Winehouse, that's cool :rotfl:
