I'm trying to install the new DVD of SH3 I just received but am unable to. For some reason the DVD cannot be read on my main PC but can on my worklaptop so I know the DVD is good. Other games work fine. If I try to browse the DVD I get an error "D:\ is not accessible. The request could not be performed because of an I/O device error." I've followed the instructions provided by Ubisoft to turn off all startup programs to eliminate software conflicts but that didn't help. My PC, although older, does meet the minimum requirements. Any suggestions?

Is your DVD ROM old, try cleaning the laser, try another DVD disc, try the disc on a friends computer. Right click on DVD Rom icon and select 'Explore' :hmm:

DVD is brand new, just out of the box. The DVD ROM (Plextor) is a little older, maybe 5 or so years. The DVD itself works in my laptop, and other DVDs (movies and games) work on my PC's Plextor. Wondered if anyone knew about incompatabilities with certian drives. I tried to explore the DVD per your instructions but it resulted in the same error message. Not sure how to go about cleaning the laser on my Plextor but I will try.

If your laser is 5 years old it is likely that is the problem. The strength of the beam diminishes over time and amount of useage.
Take it to friends and try it (preferably someone with a newer ROM).
That should be the final test/comparison.
