Conclusion:
It is not uncommon for hunters to be shot by their dogs.
World isn't what it used to be anymore. :rotfl:

Way, way back, when I was just a lad, I had to take an Ontario Provincial hunter safety course to get my first hunting license. One of the rules they had a zero-tolerance policy on was - whenever you put your weapon aside, you unload it. You climb a fence, you unload your weapon. You put your weapon on the ground or down anywhere, you unload it. Whenever you hand your weapon to anyone, you unload it first, and leave the action open so they can clearly see it is unloaded. They even failed one guy in the class when at the end, they asked for all the weapons back (they used seized rifles and shotguns for the test), and he handed his side-by-side 12-gauge back without breaking it open first.

It's the same as every twit who has ever been shot or shot someone while cleaning a weapon. What kind of idiot cleans a loaded weapon!?! (answer, the kind of idiot who should not own a squirt gun, let alone a real firearm).

See? Dogs are bloodthirsty gun-nuts! That's why I prefer cats. ;)

Seems cats merely prefer hand guns to shotguns is all (they are kind of sneaky beggers after all) :D

If a sportsman true you'd be
Listen carefully to me.
Never, never let your gun
Pointed at any one;
That it may unloaded be
Matters not the least to me.
When a hedge or fence you cross
Though of time it cause a loss,
From your gun the cartridge take
For the greater safety sake.
If 'twixt you and neighbouring gun
Bird may fly or beast my run,
Let this maxim e'er be thine;
"Follow not across the line."
Stops and beaters, oft unseen,
Calm and steady always be;
"Never shoot where you can't see."
Keep your place and silent be;
Game can hear, and game can see;
Don't be greedy, better spared
Is a pheasant, than one shared.
You may kill, or you may miss,
But at all times think of this
"All the pheasants ever bred
Won't repay for one man dead."

it wasn't uncommon while hunting to see the older guys (brother in laws and uncles) I was out with fire birdshot into the rear of a bird dog who wasn't listening well to commands. Most of those guys were ranchers and so I suppose it was an old American tradition for the insensitivity brought on by pre-20th century American pioneer testosterone. As a kid I mainly felt anger toward the old guys. I suppose its just fair that dogs have the last laugh.

I wonder if the dog will be prosocuted for not holding a gun licence!:hmm::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

So much for the dog being your best friend!

Someone must be barking mad, leaving a dog in charge of a gun :lol:
