Any of you folks think of using X-Fire along with TeamSpeak?
It's another way to track down friends. I use both. X-Fire also has a voice chat option built in, too. My X-Fire account name = mlewinsky. Send me an invite if you wish for X-Fire - that is how you add a buddie.
I will try out the TS tonight or tomorrow.

Don't get me wrong, I am a HUGE suporter of Team Speak since it works with ANY game. But, X-Fire has the feature of "seeing" a friend online and you CAN interupt him/her in ANY game and say "Hey, meet me here" It is also another way of "spying" on what your buddies are doing - now - game wise. For example let's say they are goofing off in a game of Hearts, you can text chat or "speak" to him/her - now because you know what game they are in and using. It also has a neat feature of "seeing" what TeamSpeak server your friend is on. You right click on your friends name, pick from the menu "Join TeamSpeak Server" and bingo! You are with your friend because it auto-starts TS and connects you to the TS Server they are on.
If they are working at home in MS Word, you will never know they are using Word [because it's not a game] but you still have an option of bugging them. I don't know why but some people get p.o.'d when you bug them when they are working on something. :p

Cheers.....I'll look into it
One question though...........If your 'friend' is in a password protected channel on TS, are you still able to talk to them? :hmm:

I pretty sure of this but not absolutely positive:
While TS is connecting, it pauses and pops up a dialog box to enter the password for the channel. Type it in, away you go!

The password for the server, if that is what you meant, suprises me a little (some servers I know of are considered private).
Now......passwords for channels would be an even more serious breach of privacy.
In effect, are you saying that you can access a TS server and a channel based within said server despite the fact they both have separate passwords, via Xfire.
If that is the case, I'd call that a pretty good hacking tool :hmm:
On the other hand, I think it is more probable you mean the individual must know the passwords to gain access to the TS server.

Hmmm...any ideas?? I am used to Ventrilo so TS is foreign to me.
[13:09:26] Connecting to 82.39.85.56:8767
[13:09:29] No reply from server
Maybe the server is offline
or maybe teamspeak is not running on it

I am down for the count. Junking my 6-year old PC and replacing it with this:
have been pinching my pennies. Found a way to fund a new PC without effecting our income. Current gaming PC is a six [6] year old PC of junk by todays standards.
Stashed up $900 to fund my new dream machine over the past 12 months.
Thank the Lord for eBay! I won the BID !!!!!
My closing bid $599 + $40 for shipping it from California. Sealed/never opened.
Here's what $640 got me and the the teckie guts:
Intel® Core™ 2 Q6600 quad core processor with VT
Each core operates at 2.40 GHz
2 x 4MB L2 cache
1066 MHz front side bus
Chipset Intel G33
Installed: 3072 MB DDR2, 667 MHz, (PC2-5300) dual channel memory (two 1024 MB and two 512 MB modules)
Expandable to: 8 GB (4 DDR2 DIMM slots)
500 GB, 7200 RPM, SATA II hard drive
DVD ±RW, 18X multi-format dual layer drive (up to 8.5GB)
15-in-1 high speed digital media manager
NVIDIA® GeForce® 8500GT
256MB onboard video memory
DirectX® 10, BluRay/HD-DVD Capable
Ports:
VGA
DVI-I with HDCP
S-Video
Integrated 8-Channel (7.1) High Definition Audio
Integrated Intel 10/100 Mbps Ethernet LAN
=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-==-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=--=-=-=-=-
Questions/comments/changes - because some of this stuff is brand new to me.
I have used 1-2 quad core customer machines - man are they fast.
I have no clue what I am going to do with 500 gigs of hard drive space. My current hard drive is an 80-gig of which I am using are 45-gig of space. Maybe it's time to start a porn collection, maybe, egh? http://www.dontcamp.com/forums/images/smiles/icon_wink.gif
I have read that the NVIDIA® GeForce® 8500GT card is kind of a weenie video card? Keep in mind my current video card is a non-state of the art AGP 4x card. Should I junk it upon arrival? I have $250 sitting around here screaming at me that says " BUY, BUY, BUY " - Buy what video card?
DirectX® 10, BluRay/HD-DVD Capable It's Vista based and I know what DirectX® 10 does. Since BluRay won the format war, I can just stick in one of those format types and I am good to go?
Integrated Intel 10/100 Mbps Ethernet LAN - Junking this, jamming in a 1-gig NIC that I bought about 3 weeks ago.
Integrated 8-Channel (7.1) High Definition Audio - Should I start looking for a "7.1" speaker system?
I am planning on junking the power supply and getting something that puts put 800-1000 WATTS?
Thanking you in advance for steering me in the right direction.
It's a Gateway - Model GT5628.
See you folks in a week or two on TS. Painting the family room right now which is 1/3 of the house and I am in the over loaded position - you know the position - bend over and kiss it good bye.
On overload at the moment. Too many things to do.
