This may sound stupid, but make sure that you have it installed on the boat. What 3rd party mods do you have installed in your MODS folder?
Speaking of radar, I would like to see the A-Scope be used for SD radar. They had that feature in SH1 and I really liked being able to see how far out an air contact was and if there were more than one. It doesn't make any sense to have the A-Scope and the PPI both showing surface radar. Especially with the range rings mod.

The radar scopes in the conning tower were for the SJ radar. SD radar was mounted in the control room.

Insure that the proper watch is maintained on the control room (SD) radar when ordered manned, and that any contact, however doubtful, is reported instantly to the, OOD.

Too bad we don't have an SD interface screen, then.
I see in 1.4 there is a button to raise and lower the SD antenna. Does the SD need to be raised in order to be "on"? Or is raising it just a way to take a peek while submerged? Is SD radar always "on" as long as you have it installed and the antenna is not submerged? (since there appears to be no way to turn it on).
I also notice the SD does not rotate, raised or not. Any significance to this?

The extendable antenna is actually a Trigger Maru feature, not stock 1.4, and it's there exactly for the reason you thought it would be. You are also correct about the SD being always on if the antenna is not under water. Afaik it can be turned off by clicking the radar sweep etc. buttons in the correct order, something that's unlikely to happen by accident. A forum search will probably bring up the thread discussing this.
edit: And yes, the SD-antenna does not rotate

I know it's orignially made by you(nice work btw), but since the guy didn't say anything about your mod, I assumed he's using TMaru. But anyway you're right about that
