Prowling around by Rekjavik habour and feeling quite pleased with having sunk a Type S sub and a class C&D ship, when my sonarman who I can only assume is Bernard who snuck aboard, shouts out 'Ship, bearing 087, closing, short range' or words to that effect. I stick the periscope up for a quick look and all I can see is this ship bearing down on me! I only have time to drop the 'scope when the ship plows into me and rips the scope clean off! Still, I manage to wander away fairly undamaged, but the ship rapidly sinks. I wish Bernard would give me more warning of these things.:damn:

Never put Bernard in charge of ANY important position on your U-boat. Your best bet is, if he gets aboard, to stick him in the nearest available torpedo tube and fire him at the enemy :arrgh!:

i swear bernard was my IXC's watch officer. im on partol by panama, and suddenly i hear "were under attack sir!" so i come up to the bridge and see a U.S destroyer (this is in plain daylight ming you) comming right at me from my six i order a sharp turn and a crash dive, but too late i set rammed and sunk

I swear. Bernard must be one hell of a favorite of the higher ups. It's amazing how one man gets assigned to EVERY SINGLE ONE of our Uboats whenever we go out ! It's almost like BDU won't send a Uboat out without him on board !:nope:
