Hi guys.
I have SH3 patched to 1.4b with GWX2.0 and SH3Commander. Enjoying it very much so far.
The question I have is: is it worth adding SH3Patrol and SH3Gen? The fixes present in SH3Patrol look pretty cool, as does the whole point of SH3Gen.
However, I'm not so interested if they louse up my current installation. Do they add enough to one's career experience to be worth it, or is the stock GWX2 campaign system the daddy as it is?
Thoughts and experiences please guys

Welcome! Don't know about SH3Patrol, as I don't use it, but SH3Gen is terrific. With the intel info added to the navmap (accuracy can be configured to suit), it adds a wider world to the game immersion-wise. It doesn't mod the game as such, just draws on the game data and adds the info to the navmap. AFAIK there's no problem using it with GWX2.0, but I'm not on 2.0 yet, so best to check the SH3 Gen thread. I also recommend the TatukGIS viewer into which you can export the intel and view separately.

I use SH3Patrol and I love it. It gives you a new patrol grid after refuelling (instead of "NULL"), and sets the numer of days spend in port from 30 back to 1.

I don't know for sure if it works with GWX 2 but I think it does, as it only changes the career files.

These sound like great mods but I've been unable to find them.
Any chance of someone posting a link?

Search function works in this case:
SH3Gen: http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=88438&highlight=SH3Gen

SH3Patrol: http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=98659&highlight=SH3Patrol

You might not want to use Patrol if you are using GWX, as a similar function is built into the mod.

thanks for your help so far guys.
i took the plunge with sh3gen, sounds so cool i couldnt resist it.
as for sh3patrol, regarding sailorsteves point, i'd be surprised if gwx2 doesnt address some of the issues patrol fixes. however, in the gwx2 manual, where it lists the fixes found in the supermod, i could see no reference to the twin issue of a) a milkcow docking taking 28 days and b) it resetting your patrol grid to null. any gwx2 users have any experience relating to these yet?
continued thanks guys

I think Sailor Steve meant "You might not want to use Patrol if you are using SH3 Commander". Or at least I certainly hope so as no mod can fix this problem as it's inherent in SH3.

The only difference between SH3Cmdr and SH3Patrol is that SH3Patrol let's you correct the NULL grids after docking at milk cows. I never bothered incorporating that part in SH3Cmdr (the fix is very easy though - you don't even need SH3Patrol if you can edit text files ;)).
