I came across this merchant, I didn't have any intension to attack it so for the fun of it I went with the external camera to have a closer look at it and found what you can see in the picture: partially underwater, no apparent damage in the hull (I checked under the surface), constant speed of at least 8 kt and course; and the weather is calm, no high waves.

So my question is: żDoes it mean that the merchant is heavily loaded or is it just a visual bug?

Looks like a saved game glitch to me.

I have occasionally encountered this in both Sh3 and SH4. It is more than a graphic glitch as you can set your torps to run several feet deeper than the keel is normally and they will still hit about halfway down. I have no idea what causes it but it can be very funny when you have a convoy where most of the ships are fine, but some are like that.

I just shrug and sink them anyway.

First time ever a US torpedo in WWII could be too shallow.
